No, it doesn't ignore that. Analysing the social construct of race shows that, in most cases, white people are treated better than people of colour.
I never "excused" the behaviours in my initial reply, I explained them. But we know why it happens, and the decades of racism that people of colour faced (and still do) contributed to it. The best way to solve the problem is to adress it, not to ignore it.
If a black person does something bad because of this social construct, we would adress it by trying to prevent the conditions that make someone do this. Better education, social safety nets and sensitization helps a bunch.
The same goes for a white person. If they do something bad becauwe of this social construct, we also adress it. We can educate them by explaining why what they did had racist undertones, or, in this case, to not be one of the not marginalised people who talk over someone who is marginalised in an antagonistic way. Be compationate, stop playing the devil's advocate all the time and just listen.
Poiting out the injustice going on between races isn't racist. That's like saying that if you tell someone that they are being rude to you (and they are), that you're being rude by pointing that out.
Empircally, race doesn't matter, but we made it matter in our society. Just look up what a social construct means.

That's not how social contructs work. Money is a social construct, yet people talk about it and need it to live. Language is a social construct but it has a huge impact on communication. And we acknowledge that all these constructs are real and keep affecting us.
The problem with race isn't just that it's a social construct, but the fact that it's a social construct used to make a hierarchy out of arbitrary traits. It's still maintained and keeps affecting people.
Therefore the only way to address the consequences of that construct is by looking at certain issues through its lenses.
For example, if we would look at poverty in marginalised groups without taking into account that construct, the conclusions would be that these marginalised groups are poor because they "made poor decisions" and deserved it.
However, if we take it into account, we can acknowledge the fact that the discrimination that marginalised groups face, aswell as their family background (ex: slavery) contributes a lot to the reasons as too why they are poor than people that aren't marginalised.
It shouldn't have been a race issue, but because of how race keeps affecting these issues, it is. So we address it that way.
I'm pretty new to arch Linux. Some apps, as well as the file manager, system app and taskbar all have this weird jittery font. I also noticed that even when I type the same letters, they have inconsistent appearances. Is this normal? ![](https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/ed6473f8-2012-4063-8bed-0da84c2a7eae.png) Thanks in advance.

Heteronormativity is when everyone assumes that everyone else is straight by default. It also normalises behaviors that are considered "straight".
Toxic heteronormativity is when someone's heteronormative views makes them act in a toxic way (ex: "if my son is gay, I'll kick him out", or stuff like "A guy must like having sex else he isn't normal")
So no, it's not mocking straight people for being straight, but mocking the silly behaviours that come from people taking the stereotypical role off husband and wife way too far.
Hope that explains it better :)

Great! I was also thinking of joining that team!
I went to a restorant today and they had mayo in the meal that I ordered. It was tasty, and reminded me how long it has been since I had some. I miss it :(

I understand. I think I lack self-discipline, because I don't do things that I know I won't like. I just thought that I would maybe feel happier after eating 3 meals a day for a week, but now that I think about it, maybe it's just to not feel bad later, right?
Do you have any tips to get self-discipline, or do I have to change the way I feel about responsibilities? If it's the latter, how do I go about it?
Thank you very much!
Hi everyone. When I try to follow a schedule to eat, clean my room and do my homework, it feels good at the beginning, but as time goes on, it just doesn't feel good anymore. I'm not even sure if I even feel trully happy about doing all of my responsibilities. It doesn't feel as if a burden has been lifted of my shoulder. It doesn't feel as if I were "refreshed" or more energetic after I do all of these. I started slowly like my therapist recommended: I did a schedule to eat 3 times a day. It started rocky but then I manage to do it... but only for a while. Eating just didn't feel good either. Every single time I finally clean my room, I don't feel any good: it just feels as though I wasted time because I don't feel any better. Doing math homework is fun, philosophy to, but I don't like any of the other subjects I actually need to do homework for. I know it might seem childish to only do things that feel good but I hate not being able to feel anything at all, especially when I do things that are supposed to help me but don't make me feel anybetter afterwards. Has someone here went through anything similar? What do you do then, if so? Edit: I have read all of your replies so far, but I don't know how to respond properly to them. All I can think of is to say thank you! I will try to change things (although slowly) today using your tips.

I also sometimes get overstimulated. I'm not sure if what I do to calm down is the right thing to do, but I usually excuse myself and try to find a quiet remote place with not many people in (or best case scenario, nobody).
These places are usually my room, toilets, the school's psychiatrists room or other rooms like that, etc.
I just stay there until I feel better and calm down. I'm not sure yet if people consider someone asking to leave in the middle of something rude or if they would understand.

Idk for me I don't have to remember anything. I just have to put an alarm on my phone and when it vibrates, I check it and it tells me where to go.
I also turn off all notifications on my phone except the calendar app because it would be annoying if I would check my phone and it wasn't an event that I had to attend, but that's just my opinion

Exactly! I think that the solution to this issue is to ask more questions on Lemmy. If more people ask, we may be able to get more information without having to type "reddit" after our questions X)

I use the calendar that's built in my phone to remind me of my school schedules (where I need to go and when, I can never remeber that).
Other than that, I use a bullet journal. Not an app, but allows me to remeber some events and plan out schedules. There are bullet journal apps, but I prefer pen and paper.
