Is this scoby safe to use?

Hi everyone,
I'm experimenting with growing my own scoby and a beige patch with little dangly stringy bits has appeared. I cut off the part that had it a week ago but it's come back.

Is this mould or is it a normal part of the scoby? Can I still use it? Thanks
