NSW drug summit to be co-chaired by former state Liberal leader who denounced pill testing www.theguardian.com

Looks like he's trying to sink this. In stark contrast to victoria: https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/article/2024/jun/25/victorias-pill-testing-service-to-become-permanent-after-18-month-trial cantest results: https://cantest.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/CanTEST-Two-Year-Report-2023-24.pdf which have detected new lethal substances and novel analogues of unknown safety Continuing to carry out lethal policy in the face of evidence is not functionally different to pollies randomly selecting kids and strangling them to death. It is social murder. Once again nsw is a late mover, earning out place as the least informed and most conservative state in Australia with flying colours.

BMWs, Mercs spray painted. Strike force set up. www.abc.net.au

I thought maybe someone was marking cars that had been highlighted on Dashcam Owners Australia, but apparently not.... Thank God resources have been allocated for a strike force! One poor victim got the paint off with WD40, but the trauma will last forever!

Restaurants with cheap and large serving sizes in the city?

Unfortunately the guides I could find for Dixon Street (Chinatown) were ten years old and the places no longer exist, but I've heard there's a place somewhere upstairs in Dixon House Food Court with huge plates for average prices. Outside of this and memories of the Town Hall classic 'Big Bite', I wouldn't know where to start.

What on earth has allowed Sydney roads to become so terrible?

I'm doing a big lap of Australia. We spent some time in and around Sydney recently and we were shocked, and appalled at the state of the roads. After a few days in, we started counting potholes that were big enough to HAVE to avoid, and at over 40 on one road, gave up counting. I honestly have never seen worse roads in my life. Km after km of bumpy, holey, accidents waiting to happen. The worst roads in the country. Totally shameful in a country like Australia. So the question is, how did it come to this? I know the last state leader, Gladys, was done for corruption. I've followed friendly Geordies and the mafia like corruption of Barilaro is blatantly obvious. Is it "leaders" being corrupt, or something other issue. I'm not from NSW, so am interested to know. Brisbane for example, was woefully lacking in infrastructure, so they had to play catch up on their roads, and over 20 or so years have caught up. The roads were never a death trap like Sydney's though. Any thoughts?

Latest instalment for Sydney Metro to open in August, cutting commute time for thousands of travellers www.abc.net.au

Missed this news yesterday. I guess “August” narrows it down from “mid-2024” although that’s basically end of mid year. I’m expecting late August.

City of Sydney backs boycott of Israel, in bid to add pressure for ceasefire www.smh.com.au

[Internet Archive link](https://web.archive.org/web/20240625023328/https://www.smh.com.au/national/nsw/city-of-sydney-backs-boycott-of-israel-adding-pressure-for-ceasefire-20240624-p5joe4.html). The City of Sydney council will consider scrapping its contracts with companies linked to Israel, including a printing agreement with Hewlett Packard, after Lord Mayor Clover Moore supported a renewed push from the boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement. Moore and her independent team backed a Greens motion on Monday night calling for the state’s wealthiest council to audit divestments that had or could be made to ensure it did not invest in or profit from human rights violations, “including the illegal occupation of the settlements in Palestinian territories, and the supply of weapons”.
