I'm not affiliated with the site nor am I the artist, I just find communities without icons jarring. It's like an OCD or something, so I'm just trying to help.

Is there a way to log out of YouYube on a google streaming box?

I recently switched from roku boxes with an eye toward some more software options on Android boxes. The only problem is that the videos I watch on my phone are not related to the videos that my family wants on the big screen. The device doesn't seem to work while logged out, and we don't want to constantly have to switch device-level accounts (everything else is connected to my account). The ideal situation is for the device to be logged in, with the YouTube to be logged out (or logged in another account)

Freesat → MythTV would be useful. But with what hardware?

I bought a Silicondust HD Homerun back before they put their website on Cloudflare. I love the design of having a tuner with a cat5 port, so the tuner can work with laptops and is not dependent on being installed into a PC. But now that Silicondust is part of Cloudflare, I will no longer buy their products. I do not patronize Cloudflare patrons. I would love to have a satellite tuner in a separate external box that: * tunes into free-to-air content * has a cat5 connection * is MythTV compatible Any hardware suggestions other than #Silicondust? #AskFedi

Watched Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 3 (first three episodes) yesterday (possible minor spoilers in OP).

cross-posted from: https://hexbear.net/post/1890402 > Honestly, all three were pretty good and well-connected with each other (while still being somewhat standalone). I'm guessing we'll be having either two or even three separate storylines (cutting between Tantiss crew, Omega/Crosshair, and Hunter/Wrecker). There's also the possibility of following Rex/Echo in their own storyline, but then again, that's wishful thinking on my part. I like anthology formats or storylines that have separate POVs throughout the, well, story. Makes things more interesting that way. > > Mainly, I miss TCW for the anthology format, but we'll see how season 3 goes as it's already off to a great start. > > Discuss!

Watch local channels without cable or an antenna?

My parents live in an area without good tv antenna reception, but don't want to get cable for just local channels. Is there a way over the internet to get local channels that isn't cable or an antenna? Preferably with a Roku or something like that, but not necessary, just not overly complicated. I see that pluto.tv has some large cities, but obviously not more local than that.

Is there a good reason we don’t have a streaming stick that can download for offline playback

Hulu, Netflix, and Prime all have download for offline viewing on my phone. Why can’t I do this on my FireTV or Roku. I know we’re limited by the device hard drives but it seems like amazon would welcome a reason to sell an upgraded hard drive version of Netflix would allow downloads. 99% of the time I wouldn’t need this but it would be a lifesaver at hotels with terrible wifi. Hell I might invest in a little back of the headrest tv for car if I could preload some shows for my kiddo to play on long road trips.

Anecdotal post about random cable experience

I recently moved to an apartment with cable included. I haven't had any paid TV service like this since 2009, when I cancelled my DirectTV (satellite) subscription. There are whole channels airing marathons of a program called "Dr Pimple Popper?" And, oh man; the commercials! All channels sync their commercials, so you can't even just bounce between them to avoid loud ads for things from the USA that you don't want and can't get here. I've been sick, so I spent a full day in bed away from my main TV with the Nvidia Shield. I'm still sick, but I don't care: I'm going to the living room where Kodi and SmartTube keep me ad-free and watching what I choose. Maybe I can get a credit on my rent if I opt out of the cable...

Plex, Emby, or Jellyfin

Hi all! I have been using Emby for about a year now, but I was wondering, after the recent botnet debacle with Emby, if I should switch my media provider. Anyone have experience with all 3? I really only have experience with Emby. Some things that I'm interested in: - Automatic file management is a plus - Multiple users on mobile devices - Roku apps
