John Rawls introduced justice theories in which he asked to distribute money generated in value chain fairly. That's hardly how it works.

So say, in capitalism, a raw material is generated by a farmer which is process A and there are processes B and C which generate value(price sold in market to buyer). Today, we find that most money is generated by those who control permissions which doesn't have much value contribution. Business is cutthroat but it's in the interests of all A, B and C to atleast keep each other existent. Today, whichever party amongst A, B and C is replaceable is squeezed to the fullest and the 1 key party which holds the right permissions takes all or majority of it. Since permissions are granted by government, that party will definitely be connected to someone within government.

In Kautilya's Arthashastra, Justice theories were more or less enforced by deciding in advance how much would each value addition cost, like say, if a metalsmith were to polish a metal, the price for that has been decided by the king, or say, if someone sells milk, the cost is decided. The old system has it's cons but it isn't as unfair as capitalism where 1 party bags it all.

Government licenses are required in areas like food today where poisoning can be done, etc. but many licenses provide no real value in value chain but it serves monetary interests of people who hold those controls. When governments didn't exist and debates were happening on what power governments should have, many debates were of the form that government should manage just murder and theft, they should prevent that. While I don't think such extreme minimal governments will work, but I think minimum amount of rules are very important.

    Check out my speech .

Someone from libreplanet deliberately sabotaged it by placing my video exactly on important part of the slides. According to a fellow named Devin Ulibarri, it is a "technical error" and they deeply apologize for it. How thoughtful! The content is still good and you should get the point.

    Very interesting.

The issue I find with Clojure is it's link to JVM.

VMs are always mostly controlled by the data centre hardware which hosts it. I don't find it secure. Ideally, I think C without pointers and an import system like python would be best. I guess Go is it but Go doesn't have good compilers. gccgo is gigantic. In my view, C without pointers with python like import system with a compiler like tcc would be best. All modules should be present as packages of OS rather than pip so that all trust is given to OS instead of repos which anyone can insert malware in.

Clojure is incredible. But something like tcc should be made straight from clojure to binary. JVM is absolutely unacceptable!

    Ideal Programming Language

Above is a post I wrote a while ago. Check it out.

That's an interesting link. But in my view, that's just 1 variable. eg. Python is written in C so on lower level, it would be in C code and it isn't python. A better way is to see it from lines of code to binary which is a complete conversion.

I'm pretty sure those who aren't authoritarian also have the same strategy of winning over a minority and controlling a majority. The only difference is in that case the majority believe that they're not being terrorized and they really believe the ruler acts in their best interests.

Nah. Yes, one sways people here and there according to ideology and winning elections is important, but work of a politician is to manage system as a whole, it is to divide responsibility to next layer of hierarchy, check how much of policies are implemented on grassroots by taking feedback from grassroots and hold that next layer accountable and incentivize or penalize them. Those in next layer will take care of layer below them till things reach the last layer.

Obviously more layers will lead to more cost (commission, corruption, etc.).

As far as I know, authoritarian means that who implements his decision irrespective of whether population likes or not. Such behavior is important in some times. Liberal means that who allows freedom. That too is important in some cases. There's no middle right, middle left, left and such crap. If I were a politician, I'd simultaneously be at complete scale, precisely because it's a useless scale.

I really don't know the meaning of word politics, polity, etc. but I understand very well influence, elections and decision making which are real concepts to me. Statesmanship for me, is the most difficult thing, to be divided into simple duality of right and left.

Amidst manipulation of content by centralized companies, a need for fair selection of content arises. Mastodon is a decentralized AGPLv3 licensed software which anyone can host on their own server. Each instance host can keep a copy of Mastodon and can configure it to prioritize content fairly. People can in turn choose servers which they trust. Server code is always untrusted and even if server code is made open source, one cannot trust that the same code is being run on the server. This can be exploited. Decentralization of Mastodon solves this exploit by having many servers across the globe. It already has a lot of userbase.

I'm a major in Physics. It's interesting but currently, I think, it wouldn't make any difference whether the universe created itself or 1000 universes merged into 1 or whatever. I would live for maximum 100 years and humankind for maybe few thousand years. It doesn't really matter!

Also, the current quantum electrodynamics, which is the front of proven theoretical physics is quite difficult to understand!

There are so many such theories M theory , a superset of String theory, I guess there's Twistor theory, and so many more! Theory of expanding universe also depends just on red shift of very far away light.

Here in India, each and everything is packaged in plastic. It's a huge shame! There are many things which don't need to be even packaged but still they'll be packaged in plastic.

Plastic's manufacturing price is immensely low. Also, "recyclable" plastic is seen as eco-friendly which is not. "Recycled" plastic is eco-friendly today.

There's a huge need to disallow all new plastic, and have immense R&D on recycled materials and force public back to using reusable instead of use and throw things.

As far as I know, India already has bought cheap oil when last oil prices went down in covid. India bought futures then. Also, Mukesh Ambani, an Indian investor has quite some stake in Aramco. Ofc, it can be but not over words of some people whose job is to print such stories. I prefer being uncertain.

They certainly can. However, solar panels are best used where sunlight is ample. Since a car goes through shady areas too, it's efficiency isn't much. It is way less compared to what power a car needs. Solar power plants have perpendicular sunlight for most amount of time and also reflectors (mirrors) are used to increase the amount of light that falls on those solar cells. Also, they'd be incredibly inefficient in polar regions. In equatorial regions, if they're cheap, installing on rooftop of a car can be thought about if their weight is lesser or comparable than the metal on top of car. If their weight is more than that of normal metal, more petrol will be used which would be worse.

That's a very difficult technical question. You should ask someone who conducts research wrt solar energy. The key metrics there should be energy density of material, it's toxicity, it's repairability, it's lifetime which would decide it's pricing, and the loss of energy per unit time.

Interesting. The issue here lies in decision making. The person with majority equity stake can enforce their decision in the company. The solution to this ofc is to take away voting rights and divide equity into voting + economic shares and just economic shares. Then distribute the economic shares to the donor.

This shows the reason behind moving to bsd instead of linux.

One of the key problems of linux-libre is that it just grows in size. I strongly feel that a kernel should remove useless code and be minimal but with 30M loc, I find it strange to call it secure. We don't agree with RMS completely on each point.

It is true that the progress of the project is very slow. I think that software with very high lines of code is no different from proprietary software since such free software can never be read, forget about understanding, and adopting it for our use. While gnu and fsf are much better than proprietary software, I don't like them as they don't produce minimal software. (man pages of gcc are 23k lines long! Lol. Have you had a single reference book that long?) There I follow suckless. Criticism is always welcome!

This shows progress in a bit more detail. We're not rewriting a majority of bsd kernel. What do you think is strange about free software? Free software prevents misuse of software by allowing user complete control. In my view, it is absolutely necessary!

Whether keys stay on client cannot be verified in WhatsApp even though it claims end to end encryption. 4. Are there any conflict of interests? No. (9th Jan 2022) P.S. Pixelfed - a federated alternative for image sharing https://the-federation.info/pixelfed

    1. What current existing technology fulfills the solution? Instagram. 2. Name of your technology. PixelFed 3. How is it better than current technology? It is not centralized. It is free software licensed with AGPLv3 which prevents installation of non-free apps. It can be browsed on web without login, unless the user wishes otherwise. It keeps news feed according to timeline, respects user's privacy and doesn't fingerprint them. 4. Are there any conflict of interests? No. (6th Jan 2022) Cons: Uses JavaScript. JS is not LibreJS friendly. In my view it is a clear upgrade. People's comments and criticisms are welcome. Also, please suggest a system for feedback, i.e. to make sure that people in this community have created accounts on the technology.

    Guidelines for posting.

Please always fill the following template: 1. What current existing technology fulfills the solution? 2. Name of your technology. 3. How is it better than current technology? 4. Do you have any conflict of interest wrt the technology? (Do you gain any monetary or non-monetary benefits by increase of userbase?) Note: mod can remove your post if he feels there's not a substantial development from current technology. This is to reduce the effects of those who subtly discourage improvement. We after all must expect traitors from current technology companies here. There can be recursion. A technology which is recently provided critical mass can be replaced next week. Hero becoming a villain is common. Think a lot before posting and always think about the whole system, not your benefit. After analysis for the technology after debating, based on consensus, a post named GO : {TECHNOLOGY NAME} would be created by mod in event of new technology being better where participants of this community are expected to create accounts on those websites or other areas and migrate. After all, participants aren't expected to manage 100 accounts.

A community for Critical Mass https://lemmy.ml/c/critical_mass

We increasingly find that having the first minimum number of users who interact amongst themselves is extremely important for a system to survive. I want to create this unique community of critical mass. In this community, the users would essentially be notified about new platforms, which are better than current platforms where we ask you to create an account and generate some basic content. This would enable that platform and essentially replace the other non-ethical platform. The newer platform may not be ideal and might have flaws but it would definitely be better than the older prevalent technology in many respects. We invite you, my dear friends, to this new community. You, would be the reason for change of some crucial aspects of society by mere participation!

    Humankind-nature imbalance https://designman.org/sagaracharya/blog

In light of partial issues like global warming, whale population decline, difficulty of polar bear survivals, we miss on the overall issue of balance of humankind and it's environment. I've written this article to highlight how I think of this problem and steps to resolve it. Comments are welcome.

HSYNC and VSYNC signals in VGA pins (FPGA programming).

I do not understand what the use of HSYNC and VSYNC is when connecting an FPGA board through VGA to a display. There are rgb signals, and hsync, vsync. I've read numerous resources on web but I'd be grateful if someone can explain the need of these 2 signals and how the logic of creating them on FPGA normally is. Thanks in advance.
