Never have i ever in extremely limited set of people that I have came across, heard someone say they 'use' cryptocurrency. Every body whom I met and is related to cryptocurrency only "trade's", it is just a tool of speculation and gambling. My countrie's govt doesn't consider it a legal tender thus even local woke businesses don't sell their product/service for it.

seems like a popular alternative to MS office OneNote that is also FLOSS. also works sleeplessly with touch devices.
"Make do with what you have" a good principle to follow in era of consumerism. and most smart tech should be built flexible and cohesive enough to used like this.

imo it's not 'idiot proof' as in 'anyone can use it' but 'idiot proof' as in idiots can't and won't use it.
No idiot is here reading this. They rather google 'something something pdf' and go hunting for download button on clickbait sites.

Such a teenage thing to do
Sony xperia. Android 6-7 model. They provided on-screen nav buttons. It was a permanent placeholder on the screen. I rooted my phone and was able to hide it. Removed everything from my home screen, everything. Installed a white BG wallpaper with just a set of gorgeous blue eyes - a reminder of my fav song at the time.
Now without the nav only I knew how to use my phone coz unlike today, back then it wasn't common to use gestures, so others wouldn't know.
So, it annoyed my friends coz they couldn't use my phone without nav, and no knowledge of gestures. Hidden meaning was the prominent wallpaper on the screen and nothing else. Yes I also manage to hide top notification bar.
I have been using this tool and this is totally mind blowing. it so much user friendly and simple to learn.

Delta chat for a modern messaging app like feel and e2ee over email infrastructure. Basically e2ee chat over email. It uses autocrypt for e2ee
-
Use k9 mail(android) or thundebird(PC) as they also provide e2ee among all autocrypt clients.

So true 🤣. Still, I have seen so many who can do complex BODMAS calculations in head and can remember so many math formulas( more than me at least), yet they cant use thos formulas properly in excel. Thus they weep to me, coz their boss wants them to make a spreadsheet model for the projection.

Imo wireless charging is a fad or it need to develop alot to truly be useful. With wired charging, with long enough cable, you can at least use the phone while it's charging. Or even better powerbanks: portable.

I wouldn't have care if it was the case from the start ( the point I had started using Lemmy) coz I would've accepted it as a feature. Yet now if devs would remove it, I know, I'd be a bit upset.

This. Yet also I felt manjaro is railroad-ing new users that is alright up to a point but it is a hinderance when the user want to experiment. I suggest manjaro to all new users to manjaro who are a little techie yet I suggest manjaro first and dual boot arch later to fiddle with it and learn. Then when you're comfortable enough with arch remove manjaro.
Yes, people won't always follow thru coz they get comfortable with manjaro and tag arch as hard to use and need alot of time to set up , then they give up.

Truely sad times. Alot of websites don't support rss out of the box and those who used to do it are either phasing it out or keep it well hidden. Don't talk about big social, I never had faith in walled gardens which won't let you see the happening inside. Yes there are exception.
Sad part is mastodon had rss but it isn't working for me, for some instances (that I want to follow). Idk
rss bridge is cool and all but we are in an internet era where we need indirect tactics for what used to be norm and simple stuff.
Heck my generation doesn't even know what rss is and here I enjoy it to the fullest** of its glory. am I the last generation who'd see it fizzle out. Can't it be like email?
A truly most obscure piece of code and feature that a free, open, and accessible internet needs.

The cycle shall continue.

_Thanks for lemmur deves for making such an awesome app for Lemmy on android. I am grateful of you for this and more._ ## The story: here I am scrolling this awesome app foss and fedi. Then I realize that I might have some replies, messages, or some Lemmy in app notification yet my natural instinct is to look at the bell icon for some sign of change. Am I conditioned in weird way to expect this "feature". ## The request: kindly add some icon change signal to softly alert the app user that they have a notification in waiting. P.s. : I mute system notification for reasons and peace of mind. I don't mind alerts when I am using the app coz the app has my full attention.
Google Plus code and what3words are geo addressing systems which provide a precise location address (upto 3 sq.m.) of any place on earth. These are used to address location which don't have well known postal address. And these systems provide memorable codes for humans for sharing. Right now I am using plus codes where I need them. Now I'd rather find FLOSS alternative coz google is known for killing projects that don't get popular but are still useful for some users. Ref. https://plus.codes https://what3words.com ______ _Edit:_ ### Solution found by @mp3@lemmy.ml >Plus codes are actually [open-source](https://github.com/google/open-location-code) [WhatFreeWords](https://github.com/pballett/whatfreewords) would be an alternative to What3Words.
