Unfortunately, it looks like both Sync and Jerboa do not yet support the backend changes made in version 0.19 🙁

I didn't really want to upgrade to 0.19-rc yet because I was worried that something like this would happen, but the CSAM/Moderation problem has come up often enough that I felt it was safer to have the better moderation tools and risk some breakage.

Hopefully Sync and Jerboa will be updated soon, as 0.19 should have it's full release any day now. If you're willing to try some other mobile apps in the meantime, here are some that are already 0.19 compatible:

Pretty much same experience here. I had some fun with it as an overwatch replacement for a couple weeks after launch, but it was pretty rough around the edges and the monetization was... yeah.

Not surprised they're killing it already, maybe someday Bandai will give us an actually good Gundam game again. From Software is making more Armored Core in collaboration with Bamco already, I'd love to see them take the IP and do something with it.

I think I might know what's going on - peeking in the database, it looks like you somehow disallowed notifications for all languages other than "undetermined" in your profile.

Can you try enabling all languages in your settings and see if that fixes the issue?

In that picture, can you share the contents of the "console" tab in that inspect view? I think there will be a more helpful error message there.

Federation weirdness from the large instances is probably going to happen for a while - I believe there are some changes coming soon in 18.1 that will hopefully smooth some of that out.

That aspect of ffxiv is one of my favorite things about it - there's almost no fomo / season pass shenanigans (outside of pvp). I've been playing since the 2.X days and the way everything is designed around playing at your own pace has really made it easy to enjoy over the years.

Thanks for the reply. I've been side-eyeing instances that have open community creation due to how easy it is for bad actors to come and start shit, especially if instance admins aren't constantly on top of things.

As other people in this thread have pointed out, if you allow Nazis to hang out in your bar for long enough, you become a Nazi bar. Given your instance's stated rules against bigotry, I would advocate for proactive action in cases like this. Donald Trump is a champion of racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, and xenophobia - all the things you don't allow. I wouldn't think you'd want a community that champions him as a dogwhistle for all of those things.

Have you considered disabling open community creation and having it be a function of your Agora discussion space?

Oh, nice catch on the connections there! I've always found it fascinating how often anime and other Japanese media take inspiration from Gnosticism and other weird aspects of Judeo-Christian myth. The Xeno RPGs (Gears/Saga/Blade) are some of my favorites because how much they also play around with these old ideas in a modern way.

Yeah I'm sold on a Calibarn HG kit as soon as they announce it - there's a WFM kit just labeled "New Item B" that they still haven't officially unveiled, so I'm assuming it'll be that.

There was a lot to like in this episode.

Suletta and Guel having their final(?) duel fencing was a great callback to Amuro and Char. I love Guel, but my man is a born loser.

Suletta and Miorine's heart-to-heart was really well done. Both of them are moving out from the shadow of their parents and doing what they want to do, moving forward because it's their choice. It's good stuff. Sad nightgown Miorine was also pathetically cute. I'm going to be so crushed when these two don't get a happy ending.

Calibarn is absolutely fantastic, though all of the permet effects in that battle really struggled with the bitrate of my stream. Love the witch imagery with Calibarn riding in on a giant laser broomstick.

Only a few episodes left, I'm not ready for this show to be over. Really hope we get another season or a sequel series.

Yeah, good clarification on the god hands. That is how I use mine, for the second cut.

Never had mine rust, though I keep them in a reasonably dry place.

Depends on the part - I generally try and leave nubs on and then go back at them again with the sharpest thing I've got to make a clean cut. The Bandai nippers should be plenty sharp for both of those steps, I wouldn't bother with a razor blade unless you really want to.

If you're going to buy anything for getting into gunpla, I think a really sharp pair of sprue cutters / nippers is the way to go. As you'll quickly find out, cutting the little tabs off of parts can leave blemishes behind that you'll want to minimize - especially if you aren't going to paint or do any other finishing.

There's also the "aluminum foil trick" to help sharpen whatever cutters you have on hand - fold some foil into a sheet of around 0.5cm thick and cut through it with the nippers. It'll refresh the edge on the nippers for a while.

We're definitely due another job that uses scouting gear at least. I'm guessing the second one will be a caster, though I wouldn't be surprised if we just get one new job per expansion going forward.

I don't think it will happen, but I'd love to see the resources that would go into a second new job get applied to the existing jobs and make each of them feel a bit more unique.

Media criticism is welcome here, so long as everyone is respectful. Art is inherently subjective - people are going to like different things for different reasons, and it's okay to say you didn't enjoy something.

I'd discourage low effort discussion though. Instead of saying "Voyager sucks" let's try "Voyager didn't work for me because it was too episodic" (not a criticism I personally have, just an example).

Yep, that's how it works - every post in "All" is coming from at least one person on our instance being subscribed to that community. This one reason why I'd like to hit a sweet spot of a couple hundred users - Eventually we'll get enough remote subscriptions that it'll feel like a firehose of content.

If there's stuff you want to see, I'd highly suggest going and spelunking on other instances and finding new communities to get things bootstrapped. I've been digging around once a day or so myself, so I'm confident in a few weeks we'll be seeing more stuff than we could ever want. 🙂

I totally agree that it should just try to pull/search for the remote community if you give it a url it doesn't recognize - I think it's just an feature oversight with how Lemmy is designed right now.

ActivityPub, the protocol that Lemmy/Kbin/Mastodon/etc. all use, is "Push based" as I understand it. Think of it kind of like email, we don't know about new posts/upvotes/comments until it arrives in our inbox. When someone here subscribes to a remote community, we're telling that remote server "hey, include me in your distribution list for this stuff." Check out the link above, the spec is pretty detailed and imo makes for some interesting reading!
