Started putting QR codes on my projects to link to source code, document wiring, etc

These are pre-generated labels that can be set up after printing. I provide them for free to download [here](https://noteqr.de?utm_medium=lemmy&utm_source=diyelectronics). If you are in the EU you can also buy them printed on a sheet of adhesive paper.

also try thunar, it does this and when you start typing it does not start a search (which would freeze the entire app for me) but jumps to the first file with that starting letter. Nautilus is just ... special.

Yes, I use Avery Labels. Still looking for an alternative because I would like to have smaller ones so I can stick them to very small stuff but the smallest square label I have found so far is 20x20mm

Glad you like the idea. I actually started selling these QR Codes readily printed, but you can also do it yourself with some technical skills. The QR Codes are generated and printed before their purpose and content is known. You just scan a new code and have a markdown / rich text editor where you can put any text and attach images or files.
