Having to redo a meaningless trash pull to reset your title eligibility feels bad.
Having to stand there doing nothing while waiting for mechanics to resolve feels bad.
Not being able to use my dodge to mitigate damage feels bad.
Seeing my friends gear and learn builds they don't actually want to play just to pull a reasonable numbers feels bad.
This encounter feels like it was designed for a different MMO. I think it would make a great mythic+ boss.

I'll add gw2mists to the sidebar, as that's a more feature-complete website with the same functionality. That URL is using a free website host, so I'm a bit skeptical of its trustworthiness.
Edit: it's already there. Reading is hard XD

I would recommend replacing the Silver-Fed with Mystic Salvage Kits if you have stones to spare. It's less gold per salvage :)

Thanks for helping the fediverse, CosmicSploogeDrizzle.
Glad to see this community moving over. I'm a lurker but I always loved reading the discussion :) [\#truegaming](https://kbin.social/tag/truegaming)

@Ravi @Leiesoldat A lot of the power users who submitted the bulk of the content have stopped posting. Casual lurkers will follow eventually.
I remember when all of my gaming friends were on Skype and Teamspeak. It took some time, but now we all use Discord. Someday, Discord will die too and we'll move on to Revolt or something else.
It'll take time for reddit to die and habits to break. But we'll be here once folks are ready. https://pluralistic.net/2023/01/21/potemkin-ai/#hey-guys

Hopefully it's actual gameplay and not RP that makes it long. I much prefer faster fractals, but I'll take what I can get.

It's slow going for now. I'm just glad we have a reddit-like place to go in case reddit collapses further.

Anet does seem to be keeping things fairly close to the chest nowadays. They're only giving details on the next update and keeping any future plans vague at best.
As everyone is settling in, I wanted to highlight the importance of hashtags. iirc that was happening for kbin.social for a while during a ddos attack. cloudflare does mess with federation quite a bit.

I'll make a Lemmy account later tonight and see if I can figure it out. Thanks!

As much as I'd like that to happen, this part of the fediverse is definitely not ready for a mass migration of users. For now, it's only longtime users and early adopters. The average user probably wouldn't be okay with downtime, and the average moderator would be woefully underequipped to manage the community.
man0fbass 1 year ago • 100%
The beauty of federated social media is that it doesn't matter which one "wins". Once bugs are sorted out, Kbin can see Lemmy's content and Lemmy can see Kbin's.
Everything here is connected, so it ultimately won't matter which platform or server you choose. Obviously there are levers for admins to defederate (or, refuse to communicate with) from servers who host illegal content or enable spammers. This is generally a last resort though; most admins believe strongly in keeping everything connected.
Vote if you like, but the primary reason I'm posting this is because this community has been linked as a reddit alternative in the post. Welcome gamers! You do not need an account on kbin.social to post here. Pick any [Kbin](https://fedidb.org/software/kbin) or [Lemmy](https://join-lemmy.org/instances) server (lemmygrad and lemmy.ml are not recommended), make an account, and type `@guildwars2@kbin.social` in the search bar to get here. Consider subscribing to /c/guildwars2@lemmy.wtf as well if you're able. There's been some odd bugs getting their posts, hopefully that's ironed out. These projects are still somewhat early in development, but have a promising future! Also: consider searching [#GuildWars2](https://kbin.social/tag/GuildWars2) to see even more discussion from the wider network. If you have any questions about federated social media, please ask them below :D

Do dailies on red BL if you hate running into people. Or just learn how to fight. I chose the latter as a PvE player and it's been a lot more fun.

I think any channel that's able to get away with crowdfunded monetization like Ko-Fi or Patreon would be able to make the switch comfortably.

People are still using YouTube because it still works for them. Once Google ships something that changes that, folks will start looking for alternatives. Same goes for Owncast and Twitch.

holy cow, 53 minutes. be right back
I'd like to transfer ownership of a magazine I created to another moderator. Is there a way to do this?
man0fbass 1 year ago • 100%
Yep, for some reason that one is not working. Not sure why.
man0fbass 1 year ago • 100%
Yep, that seems to be another issue that needs to be worked out. Similarly, I see the admin of my instance as the mod of any lemmy community.
(and yes, that randomm. nothing concrete on that front yet but i'd like to harness existing channels to bring more people onto federated social media :D)
man0fbass 1 year ago • 100%
All of them can and should co-exist. The whole point of federated social media is that there's no centralized power. More on that here: https://kbin.social/m/guildwars2/p/437854/Hi-folks-I-m-adding-a-new-rule-under-Allowed-Content
Thank you for posting these by the way; it's important that folks are aware of other instances.

I'm not much of a mesmer player, but I do have some insight that might help you out.
I'm worried I'll get yelled at if I'm not optimized
As long as you're upfront that you're a newer player and want to learn how stuff works, most players in-game will help you. Just ask!
Broad strokes on elite specs in PvE (note that there is a balance patch soon):
- Chronomancers get access to Continuum Split. Using it captures your position and skill cooldowns, and using it again moves you back to that point. You'll most commonly see them playing boon support on quickness and alacrity, giving important boons to players that increase their damage. Shield is generally only taken as a boon support; if you're playing DPS then you'll be using sword/sword+greatsword.
- Mirages have a modified dodge and play heavily into deception and juking. In PvE, they're commonly played as DPS (with axe) and alacrity boon support (with staff). Unfortunately, the upcoming balance patch is going to make them noticeably weaker than they should be, so I wouldn't recommend mirage right now.
- Virtuosos are able to attack at range and do solid damage as both power and condi (damage over time) DPS. Most mesmer players today are playing virtuoso. The dagger is a really strong damage weapon that frees up your offhand for some useful utility like torch, pistol or focus.
Having a sensible build will make the game quite a bit easier. I would recommend MetaBattle for open world and Hardstuck for group PvE like dungeons, fractals, strikes, and raids. Speaking to your point on how guides tend to be lists of abilities, Hardstuck does explain ability usage and what the build does reasonably well.
Every build in the game should be played melee whenever possible, even if they're ranged. Most boons are generated in a short radius around the support players, so staying tight is important.
Hopefully that answers some of your questions :D

@a_cat Ok, so it looks like there's no functionality to get the rules in a sidebar on a Lemmy server. I do know that the description will federate, so I'll make a post with the text and link it in the description as a workaround.
Hopefully a standard for sidebars and pinned posts can be agreed upon between Kbin and Lemmy devs in the future :)
Hi folks! I'm adding a new rule under Allowed Content: > > > Advertisements to other fediverse communities focused on Guild Wars 2 > > For those of you that are new to federated social media, you might be wondering why this is important. The fediverse is decentralized. A quick browse on the default homepage of kbin.social will show you content from other instances of Kbin and Lemmy. Searching [#GuildWars2](https://kbin.social/tag/GuildWars2) will show you even more discussion from other federated servers. If this magazine was the only place on the fediverse to discuss the game and kbin.social shut down (or if I turned out to be an overzealous mod who decided to only allow posts about DPS minstrel core thief), then that would be a huge problem! We'd find ourselves in the same situation we're in right now with the loss of /r/guildwars2. There's a ton of very nice people around the fediverse who discuss the game. Any assistance posters want to provide in helping us find them is welcome. The conversation is not limited to kbin!
The new fractal will be called [Silent Surf](https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Silent_Surf_Fractal#cite_note-1). ([image](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/439163526616055821/1118583989649801246/image.png)) Apparently this is a [location from GW1](https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Silent_Surf).

Nice guide. Having everything on one webpage with waypoint links is good for newbies who aren't familiar with the wiki yet :)
Seasons of the Dragons achievements for LS4 eventually reward 250 of their Volatile Magic mat. Might be worth mentioning that as a potential source, as it's a great long-term goal for new players.

With most (if not all) 3rd-party apps breaking on reddit, I thought it would be a good idea to get something set up on the fediverse for the community. For now, it's very barebones but things should fill out as I learn more about kbin specifically. If you would like to help, the best way to contact me is [@bass](https://mstdn.games/@bass).
