[Solved] My account is labeled as a "bot account"?

I was looking at a reply to my comment on !Selfhosted@lemmy.world and saw that next to my name there was the label "bot account". Does anyone have any thoughts around the cause? ![Screenshot showing "bot account" label next to my username "lagged"](https://dataterm.digital/pictrs/image/8caaca4e-d0f9-4901-8ddf-04d5ff0205d0.png) Is this just what happens when you post a comment on a federated site or is it something to do with how I posted the comment? I am using the progress web app on Android for dataterm.digital

If I clicked on the community a post or comment came from I could navigate to it. But if someone posted a hyper link to another community the app would open up a web view.

Slightly unrelated: is having your own instance and then federarating, just like people do with Mastodon, also equally valuable with Lemmy?

Ahhh, very good. Excellent loop hole. It's possible spez will still try and force pics back to it's former popularity but this does follow his rules ...

I started with Jerboa on Android but then saw someone post that the Lemmy web UI was a progressive web app that you could "install" to act as a standalone sort of app. Jerboa was missing the key feature of being able to view communities on other instances in the app by clicking on a link to them.

I've been using the web app as a stand alone app for a few days now. I like it more than Jerboa bc I can follow other communities. Although eventually I hope to switch to an Android app for ease of use.

It's interesting how this issue is new (in my experience) to the Fediverse with Lemmy. With Mastodon you essentially have this uniqueness functionality built in. Because a person isn't likely to post content to multiple accounts under the same persona. Instead someone will choose their instance and username and that's where you can find them. Sure a user might have multiple accounts but I think usually it's to separate multiple online personas.

I think there is use in having same named communities in Lemmy on different servers because they could be for different purposes.

But I can see multiple duplicate communities with the same purpose being on different servers causing fragmentation. Maybe we'll end up with popularity wars and eventually one duplicate community will give way to the other?

Hopefully I'll have some progress posts in the future! My only transmit project is the KPop one but I am not anywhere close to that. I do have thoughts about transmitting in other environments but am not sure super about the legal aspect of that.

I have a whole wish list of radio waves I want to inspect using my HackRF SDR.

Most recently I've been trying listen to the subway radio communications while riding. So far not much luck as I'm still learning GNU Radio and SDR in general.

The first project that got me into SDR was my interest in how KPop concert light sticks (similar to LED wrist bands at Taylor Swift concerts, except KPop light sticks use ZWave not IR painting) communicate and sync up to songs. Still haven't gotten to this project yet. Maybe once I learn more I can try again.
