I'm going to talk about some serious stuff here so move along if you were trying to keep things light today.

Scott Hutchinson from Frightened Rabbit died by suicide in 2018. Throughout his music Scott often talked about anxiety and depression and suicide. I highly recommend Frightened Rabbits 2008 album The Midnight Organ Fight. I want to link every song from that album but I'll limit it to just 3.

The Modern Leper - Frightened Rabbit

In this song he compares anxiety and depression to leprosy and asks the question to his significant other why would you love a modern leper? Are you a masochist?

Scott often said that he openly wrote and sang about his illness hoping that it would help someone else.

Head Rolls Off - Frightened Rabbit

In this song you'll hear the lyrics "when my blood stops someone else's will not" and "while I'm alive I'll make tiny changes to Earth" indicating his desire to help others by sharing his feelings and his pain.

Floating in the Forth - Frightened Rabbit

In this song you'll hear him ask the question "is there peace beneath the roar of the Forth road bridge?" and then make the somewhat hopeful statement "I think I'll save suicide for another year."

His body was found near the shores beneath the Forth road bridge near Edinburgh. Making this song so much more powerful knowing that he predetermined his death more than 10 years in advance and those thoughts were constantly with him.

[Fresh Album] The Armed - Perfect Saviors

New album by The Armed. This has more of a rock sound then their previous works which had this interesting blend of hardcore and noise pop. Honestly I didn't love their previous works that much but they were always unique so I wanted to check this out. Although it's not as unique I'm finding myself really enjoying this. It just sounds very well put together if that makes any sense. Song whip below! https://songwhip.com/the-armed/perfect-saviors

There's so much I want to mention but I've managed to narrow it down to a few things.

My dad is a big fan of Yes so here's a track that I heard a lot when I was a kid and still love today.

    Roundabout - Yes

As an adult I've made some effort to dig into the stuff I missed out on from previous decades. I recently "discovered" Lou Reed and love everything he's done.

Walk on the Wild Side - Lou Reed

And finally I want to bring up Brian Eno's contributions to ambient music. No specific track but I love his albums Another Green World and Music for Airports.

I think you're right about them falling off around 97 or so. But I think American Idiot in 2004 was considered a comeback for them. Sure they became more mainstream with some of those singles but like said in the daily challenge thread I was 12 and they were awesome to me at the time.

So I was born in 92 and some of my early music exposure was the 90s alternative and pop music my older sisters were into. One CD that my sister would play a lot was Everclear's So Much For the Afterglow. I always liked the title track because of the choral intro transition into the punk sound.

So Much for the Afterglow - Everclear

And then I was 12 when Green Day's American Idiot came out so I was really into that for a while. My favorite track being the 9 minute epic Jesus of Suburbia.

    [discussion] The Nice Guys (2016)

I put this on the other day not really knowing what it was and I loved every second of it. ::: spoiler spoiler The 1970s Los Angeles vibe was perfect. The plot was unpredictable and chaotic but it made sense from the point of view of the main characters. Ryan Gosling, Russell Crowe, and the teenage girl were all excellent together. There were so many intricately set up punchlines through out the movie. I had no idea Ryan Gosling could be so funny. One of my favorite lines was probably when March (Gosling) was interacting with his daughters friend Janet. Janet: "You took the Lords name in vain!" March: "No I didn't Janet. I found it very useful actually. OK, Janet?" Also the whole set up and pay off with the dream sequence and Healy's (Crowe) ankle gun was hilarious. ::: What are your thoughts on this movie? Do you recommend any more movies like this?
