I guess disabling full screen notifications for the phone app does work, but I kinda liked the full screen notifications when I'm driving.

Were you able to make the alert stop?
janNatan 2 days ago • 100%
I suppose I could try that. I was hoping for an easier solution.
The phone is really great other than this one annoying "feature," especially for the price.
Hello all! My new phone (Moto G Stylus 5G 2024 running Android 14) keeps giving me this alert that an app is giving full screen notifications. The app in question is the freaking telephone app, which I of course want full screen notifications from! There's no option to disable the alert. (The two choices are "go to options" and "not now," by the way. And "go to options" takes you to the telephone app's notification settings.) I cannot seem to find a setting related to this, and I've disabled every Motorola app (including system apps) that I can find in the app list. Although, some of them don't allow disabling. Anybody familiar with this by chance? I'm getting this stupid alert for every other phone call. Thank you!

Actually, I already do that. I have two two steam deck docks, one in the living room and one in the office. I still like having the dedicated device for streaming though. Especially since I tend to download movies/shows sometimes. Can't be filling up the steam deck storage with non-games!
I also sometimes use the deck in handheld mode while my husband watches TV.

I bought a mini PC and plugged it into the TV. I use a "wireless mini keyboard with trackpad" to control it. My husband and I have been using it for years. Beelink's mini Ryzen PCs are quite solid in my experience. I have Linux on mine. Firefox with ublock origin. No ads, like ever.

What's the point of the empty circular rooms around the edge of the colony? Is it something to do with melee combat? I've never done a melee only colony.

I'm glad I'm not alone. My husband barely dreams at all.
janNatan 2 weeks ago • 96%
By the purest definition (being aware that you are dreaming), I lucid dream nearly every night. I never did anything special to achieve this.
But, it's not as fun as they make it sound. At some point, my mind started resisting me. Sure, I can do anything I want... sometimes. However, most of the time, anything I change goes back to the way is was immediately.
I also used to be able to wake myself up while lucid dreaming. For instance, maybe I would be aware that I am napping, and I need to wake up. So, I would. But, my mind now resists that as well. When I try to wake myself up, sometimes I just wake up into another dream. And, for whatever reason, I am not aware that I am dreaming in the new dream.
None of this upsets me too much, but it is annoying. I think it may be related to some sort of mild, generalized sleeping disorder I have. I experience sleep paralysis and insomnia episodes, but they've never been frequent or upsetting enough for me to seek treatment.

Send me one and I'll let you know! Just kidding. I haven't heard of Moonman. Do know know where they're sold?
So far, I'm liking it. I rinsed it out before using, and there was trace amounts of blue ink already in the pen. Mysterious. I filled it with Noodler's Heart of Darkness, and it writes very smoothly. Left it sitting overnight, and it continued writing smoothly this morning with no hiccups whatsoever. Very nice! It's supposed to be a "fine," but it really seems like more of a "medium" to me. It comes with a piston filling cartridge converter which didn't seem removable at first, but it just slides out if you pull on it a little. I got it from AliExpress, if you're wondering. It will surely be available on eBay soon enough.

Very rare? It's never happened. It's considered impossible. The fetus has no way to get nutrients outside of the uterus. Maybe one day we will develop a method of transferring the fetus into the uterus or an artificial womb. Maybe. One day.
Edit: never happened in the fallopian tubes. It can attach other places but the survival rate is 1% or less.

I'm aware of Lemmygrad, yes. FOSS is the reason why I joined Lemmy, and I was at least mildly aware of the developers' philosophy. I wasn't aware they were moderating all dissent.

I mean, I mostly look at memes, so I never noticed that. And .ml stands for Mali, the country. I didn't know it was a dual meaning acronym.

Do you care to elaborate a bit more on what you don't like about .ml moderation? I joined Lemmy before the reddit exodus. At the time I joined, .ml was the largest instance.

According to Wikipedia: "One of the reasons why adults emerge in winter seems to be the absence of predators." Another reason seems to be reproduction, which is probably why the adult form does not eat. They mate "indiscriminately," apparently. Sounds like a good time.

I watched half of the whole series this Saturday simply because it was on episode one by chance when I tuned into Pluto TV. Its jokes are timeless. The characters are very real. And, it's more mature than you might think for a cartoon with teenage characters. (Except Aang of course, who is one hundred and twelve.)

Oh, I guess it was you who didn't say fen. But it's probably more correct to leave "fen" out, at least if you want to be understood. It is not s common word. I had to look it up.

That's what I why trying to say. They don't eat the meat as kids and they die young, hence why prion disease isn't a huge issue. However, I bet it still affects some. And, when it does, they just think it's because of the "male witches." They wind up eating the "witches" and making the problem worse.
Edit: I wanted to add that I think it's interesting that they see the brain as a delicacy. I wonder if it's because the killer gets to keep the brain (and therefore it is rare/sought after) or if they actually like the flavor/texture.

Excellent read. I was wondering how they deal with prions. It seems their "solution" is not feeding the human meat to children and usually not living past middle age. They seem to die from a lot of diseases, and I can't help but think some of them are prion related.

I'm from the USA, and when I first heard "digga," I was certainly confused! It seems the youth say it even more than the generation that invented the phrase now.
Anyway, English speakers have an old phrase that is similar and might help some understand the usage of the word "thick" here. The phrase is "thick as thieves" - meaning thieves stick together.

It doesn't. "Monkey" is used in common racist language against black people. That's the racist aspect.
"Monkeypox" also became associated with the LGBT+ community after the most recent breakout in the USA. And Americans love hating the gays almost as much as they love being racist. So, there are (at least) two negative stigmas associated with "Monkeypox." They attempted to alleviate this by changing the name to Mpox. (It arguably didn't help much.)

Mpox was monkeypox. They renamed it in an attempt to remove stigma.

I've tried to find them to no avail. I'm guessing the box sets just aren't made anymore, but I figured it's worth asking in case there's some obscure one out there somewhere. To clarify, I'm looking for a more recent Linux version. I know the older ones can be found on auction sites and the like.
I remember finding them on the Internet somewhere in the early 2000s. I remember that Kimi was one of them, so it would have to have been after the second movie (Rugrats in Paris). Anybody remember these things? I can't find any details about them online.
A dice tray or a set of dice is an obvious and universal choice. Anybody have any more ideas? Thanks in advance.
When I am making a post or a comment through jerboa, I am having a weird issue where if I backspace/delete, the text of the word I'm writing will combine with the word before it. As an example, if I type > The quick brown foz And I backspace to fix the typo, I get this > The quick brownfo If I keep backspacing to fix the problem, it keeps combining words like this >Thequickbrown It's very annoying and sometimes I have to delete entire sentences and start over. Also, if I have a wall of text and click somewhere in the text to make an edit, sometimes it will keep typing where I was before. Also annoying. Does anybody else have this issue? It could be a product of my keyboard, which is Open Board from F-Droid. But I usually only have issues like this when trying to type my information into websites that aren't designed for mobile. (Fennec, if it matters.)
I chose my instance 9 or so months ago purely because it was suggested by the Jerboa app at the time. In lieu of making numerous accounts to access communities that aren't federated with my instance, I was hoping to make a second account with a very "federated" instance. Any suggestions? Despite being here for a while, I've mostly been a lurker til recently and haven't learned a lot. Thanks in advance.
