You’re not wrong, I’d add some Crash Bandicoot inspired level designs as well as some Sackboy Big Adventures in there. It’s a wonderful game, hopefully they’ll bring it to PC for you to enjoy it (I’m assuming you’re gaming on PC).

May be. But they’ve shown a lot of determination for it so far and I hold some faith that they’ll push it pretty far.

Court documents reveal that Gametech Holdings had pinched the trademark from Nguyen after the original developer missed refiling for it. The Flappy Bird Foundation, spearheaded by game designer Michael Roberts, then purchased it from Gametech.
I didn’t know about the trademark take over. But, thats a great start to the reputation of this thing. Unfortunately most people won’t even realise what is going on here, so what are the chances some will mistake this as Nguyen’s doing?
The whole plan and background for this game sounds abhorrent.
An interview with the directors and producer. Here’s a few snippets that I found interesting. > - **With reports that the Remake game sales underperformed, are there plans to change the console exclusivity window for the next installment of Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy?** > > **KITASE:** Regarding the strategy of the [console] release, there's sort of nothing we can comment on regarding that. But overall, we are looking forward to more players enjoying and playing this title. So we wish for that to happen. --- > - **Is there another cinematic sequence in Rebirth that takes the crown for the greatest challenge?** > > **HAMAGUCHI**: So actually, the most difficult scene in Rebirth, I believe, was Rufus's Inauguration Parade. > > I'll go into why. First, we had to look for a person that understands parade formations. [Someone with that experience] was very rare to find. Then, we had to find actors who could perform these various sequences. So, with both of these [requirements], we had to look and have all of them before we started motion capture. It took a while to find these people. > > An interesting story I'd like to share is that in that scene, all the soldiers, including Cloud, have guns in their hands while they're doing the parade. To mimic this, we created real gun models for all the actors to hold while doing the sequence. But then what happened is the gun models we made were so heavy, and it was impossible to move, you know, twirling around and doing all of those motions. So it became a problem. In the end, even though they made those models, they used umbrellas. --- > - **What is the wildest fan theory you've seen about the trilogy so far?** > > [Everyone laughs.] > > **HAMAGUCHI:** After the panel yesterday, we were chatting with the voice actors over dinner, and this exact topic came up, funnily enough. We were talking about Chadley, which is that character who supports Cloud in Rebirth. And we were talking about how, like, some people think that he's actually evil and will turn out to be the last boss in the final title. We were cracking up about that.

Anecdotal but of all my IRL friends and colleagues, I’m the only person who has the game right now. Despite how much I tell them how good it is, and how much fun I’m having, a few don’t want to pay full price due to how short they’ve read the game is.

It might be that you are. I play FFXIV on my SD so there's a few times where I need it for comms, so it can become a massive pain. That's probably why I notice it enough to have the complaint.

I wish they would fix the OSK issue where it does not show when using the shortcut (STEAM

I have a friend that refuses to play FFXIV again because how addicted they felt towards it. That came off the back of a WoW addiction that led them to mix up their priorities between food, alcohol and playing the game. The whole addition to both of those was a way for dealing with other mental health issue, yet only made matters worse with how those games work.
I also had my own issues with game addiction when I was dealing with grief over a death. Fortunately it didn’t impact my physical health but it did impact other areas. I certainly wasn’t looking after myself and my surroundings as best as I could back then, and neglected a lot in my life.
My friend found a way of dealing with game addiction by removing them entirely, I found ways to prioritise other areas of my life and continue with that while keeping gaming strictly as a hobby.
Often I think people become addicted to games like any other substance due to dealing with external factors in life that they’re not getting help for. It takes a lot to realise there’s a problem, it takes even more to deal with the root causes. Some people also have low thresholds for addiction and which exacerbates it.

Remember that time when Peter Molyneux said he wasn't going to speak to the press or about games anymore?
"I understand that people are sick of hearing my voice and hearing my promises. So I’m going to stop doing press and I’m going to stop talking about games completely."

I was following the dev on Twitter for a while, its been interesting to see some of the developments on this. Exciting to see the release date, and I'll definitely be making this a day one purchase.
Also I love the song in the trailer, it fits perfectly.

I’m looking forward to playing this, so will be staying staying away from anything early like this, and not even clicking through.
To go with the discussion prompt; I do think modern games can, but they need to stay as true as possible in a number of ways. Games like Silent Hill 2 won’t benefit from changing the combat to something more action oriented, and the story needs to be as close as possible. Sometimes things may differ and that’s understandable, but the question has to be asked, “Is this the game that would have been made back then if they had todays funding, technology, or knowledge?”
If you’ve been following discussions over the past couple of days you’ll know that there are no characters, or even references to Final Fantasy in yesterdays released Astrobot. I honestly think it’s a miss that we’ve not been able to see this representation in the game. Astrobot is a celebration of PlayStations 30 year history, and in those 30 years Final Fantasy has been a mainstay of the consoles history. We even had the Buster Sword reference in Astros Playroom, which again was a celebration of PlayStation (in addition to a controller/tech demo). I don’t know why we’re not seeing FF in the game, whether it’s down to Square Enix, Sony or Team Asobi. But having played the game it achieves what it sets out to be, so it’s a shame that part of its history is not represented.

I’ve got little experience or knowledge of others that have attempted this before so I can really comment there. But I do appreciate what they’re attempting here and I wonder if there’s some wider picture around this for the long term that they’re not able to discuss in the open.
My current suspicion (and it is only suspicion) is that this may be around further increased graphic fidelity for when PS5 Pro is released - I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s several improvements in store to take advantage of any new hardware.
An interesting video detailing some of the history of a neigh impossible challenging the started life out as a “No Sphere Grid” challenge and transformed into something utterly bonkers. The challenge combines all of these in a single run - - No Sphere Grid - No Summon - No Customization - No Overdrive - No Escape - No “No Encounters” - No Blitzball

Me and my kid played it for a little while earlier and it’s so good in it’s simplicity. I can’t wait to go back and play more. But it also me instantly wonder why Sony haven’t got Asobi to do a new Ape Escape.

I don’t know what support for the DualSense is like on PC but the game seems to rely on gyro and haptic triggers for some features. I’ve only played the first few levels but I image the rest of them being this way too. For the controls alone I’d say it makes it less likely to be on PC (but they managed it with Returnal so who knows).

I can across this a while back that might scratch some of the SSX itch for me - its an indy game that takes heavy inspiration from SSX. There's a basic demo, it plays quite well on Steam Deck. Though I wasn't a fan of the controls, so hoping the dev changes them or allows them to be changed.

I'd love to see them do this, but they'd need to find a way to make the gatcha elements more palatable. Gatcha was the primary reason that I never played for long.

Shapes of Play products seem quite cool but expensive for what they are. Other than collectors I'm not sure who would pay £35 for stress balls/shapes.
Even though this is a preview, I'm a little disappointed by this on a whole. 30 years is a massive milestone, and so far this is underwhelming for such a big anniversary.

You've been upset enough to call her a brat for calling "us all racist" (whoever "us" is), treating it as a personal attack on yourself, when its not actually applying to you. Only to then get defensive and change your reasoning when called out on it.
These two are not the same;
the brat from Kentucky decided to call us all racists
I call her a brat because she's using her identity (and the black community) as a shield
Whichever way it is, or how upset you actually are, it seems very misplaced.
helloharu 2 weeks ago • 76%
See the strange thing about these points your making isn't your concerns and whether they're valid or not, they're your opinions and you're entitled to those. Whats strange is your reaction and defensiveness.
If you're not racist then Sena isn't talking about you, and if you're not personally attacking her, then Yoshi-P isn't talking about you either.
So why are you so upset about those statements from both of those people?
helloharu 2 weeks ago • 93%
That's a weird thing to get angry at her for, when you didn't care about her and presumably aren't racist, but ok.

FANTASIAN is a wonderful game and I’m so pleased more people are going to be able to get to enjoy it. It’s taken far too long for it to arrive on consoles but it’s better late than never.
Sakaguchi’s love for FFXIV is undeniable though, he spent a long time discussing and sharing his progress and enjoyment on Twitter (he may still do, but I’m not there anymore). So for him to say he would prefer to stay a fan, than ruin his experience, is as much as I’d expect. Though, in a way it is a little sad, because I’m sure FFXIV players would be ecstatic to see his involvement.

How are the controls for this? I found FFXIV controls are great, not perfect but great, and was wondering how they compare. Getting a solid control scheme for an MMO isn’t easy.
Few highlights that I found interesting: - Alliance Raid is coming in the first patch. > “In patch 7.1, we will be having the [FF11 crossover] alliance raid Echoes of Vana’diel, and we are also creating a 24-person savage which is shaping up to be really good.” - They built it with expected wipes in mind. > “When a player goes through on their first playthrough they will probably wipe three times – this was what we felt was a good line to draw.” - “24-man Savage” will be different content from normal. > “On the other hand, the 24-person savage – this is going to be a completely different boss. So it is going to be completely different content”

I know Mikami is in a good position to understand these decisions better than us, but this still feels like a cop-out answer. I suspect there is far more to it than a terrible comparison to Monster Hunter.
> We do plan to continue working on expanding functionality for people who love their fashion. And with regards to the two dye channel system, we still haven't updated all of our previous assets for the system, so we are working on that, and we should be able to finish all of the existing assets by patch 7.3. That is our first goal right now. But after we get through that, then we will be thinking about what to do next.
Hi everyone, I’d just like to drop a quick note to say !finalfantasyxiv@lemmy.world moderation has been handed over to myself. The previous mods have been removed. This isn’t due to any specific mismanagement or anything else, but because they were no longer active on Lemmy. I’m also the moderator at !finalfantasy@lemmy.world, so I’m very embedded in the Final Fantasy community at Lemmy and hope I can serve this community well. Nothing will change immediately but I will be looking into what can be introduced here to help bring some of the usual FFXIV community happenings. Thanks, have a great day.
Lastnight the game came under DDOS attack yet again. I’ve not been able to log in this morning to see if this has been resolved yet but they’ve not reported the recovery on The Lodestone so I’m assuming it’s still ongoing.
The moderators of !finalfantasyxiv@lemmy.world have not logged in, posted or commented in 12 months. The community is still active and slowly gaining more subscribers. I've reached out to [@JoeChio@lemmy.world](https://lemmy.world/u/JoeChio) the main moderator there, multiple times without a reply asking if they were willing to transfer, but I've yet to have a reply. I'm moderator at !finalfantasy@lemmy.world which shares a lot of similar content with it being part of the same series. As !finalfantasyxiv@lemmy.world is still active I'd like to build on what is there and ensure that there is someone able to moderate if required.
> Asked if future Final Fantasy games may see a day-one release, Takai says "I think it's possible – probably even likely," before adding, "That said, the team in charge of each project gets to decide its own policy, so this is just my personal opinion." > > While Takai's thoughts are his, they align with what Square Enix has said throughout various financial briefings throughout the year.
