Create a community. !me_irl wasn't the right place for my hard-hitting memes about depression and stuff, so I created !2meirl4meirl
Most of your posts are fine, though.

It could be that your ISP is trying to slow down multimedia downloads. Try using a VPN, and see how an Invidious download compares to a Pop!_OS ISO.
If that fails, I'm afraid I'm all out of ideas.

I think it must just be your internet. Sorry!

Huh, weird. And what OS are you running?

Weird. Which browser are you using?

Try a different server (I'd recommend this one).
If that doesn't work, try running LibreSpeed to see if it's you. If it is, you can try disabling any VPN, proxy, or Tor daemon you have running and try again, or simply turn your internet (whether it's ethernet, WiFi, LiFi, or mobile data) off and on again.
This isn't safe, either. It is untreated and raw, and several bodies of water have been found to contain pathogens such as E. Coli as a result.

Finally! Some good news!
cross-posted from: https://lemmy.ml/post/423749 > In his latest work "Reclaim Your Face", Alexander has taken on the issues surrounding biometric surveillance practices and facial recognition. The film perfectly highlights the dangers that biometric surveillance systems pose to our society. Alexander Lehmann is known for the short film "You are a Terrorist" (Du bist Terrorist).

These parodies are actually pretty good! [Here's "We Didn't Start The Kernel", plus the rest of the playlist.](https://invidious.sethforprivacy.com/watch?v=5nZFuQVz-mY&list=PL6sYHytyKN2-X93TurF3JptW8qSVm0DzA&index=1)
Hey, everyone! I just started [!2meirl4meirl](https://lemmy.ml/c/2meirl4meirl) for when things get to real for [!me_irl](https://lemmy.ml/c/me_irl) It's modelled off the original subreddit, so if you are a current or former Redditor, you know what to do. Otherwise, please read the sidebar. Thanks!

I'm somewhere between Newborn Paranoid and FSF Member, yet I'm completely skipping Tech Paranoid tier.
I use qutebrowser and LibreWolf on Arch, but I'm thinking of moving over to Trisquel or Parabola once I find the right drivers.

I'm trying to lock down Instagram, but my friends don't believe in privacy. It's really the only way I can communicate with them online.

'Fraid I don't. I just made it myself the other day by pinning together Openbox and MATE Panel with Picom and some custom themes. Once it's done, I'll put a howto guide up and give you a link.

On Windows, I used to use FeedReader Desktop. On Linux and BSD, I use Liferea. On iOS, I use RSS Mobile.

I'll be sticking with Debian and Arch, then. If Linux itself is compromised, there's always BSD and illumos.

I have a few machines that I have accumulated:
- HP 17-ca0003na with Arch Linux. My daily driver.
- Lenovo ThinkPad T400 with Arch Linux. My power user laptop.
- Acer Aspire from 2009 with Lubuntu. My expendable Ubuntu machine.
- Core 2 Duo Macbook due to dual-boot Devuan GNU+Linux or OpenBSD alongside Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. My indispensable Macintosh.

I use several, as I have a few different machines. I use Cinnamon on my newest machine, Xfce and DWM on my ThinkPad, LXQt on my "expendable" laptop, and Caffeine (a custom desktop based on Openbox, with a look and feel similar to Consort) on my 2007 Macbook.
