I do self-host some services but it bugs me that a lot of articles that talk about costs do not factor in a lot of additional costs. Drives for NAS need replacement. Running NUCs means quite an energy draw compared to most ARM based SBCs.

I can’t tell if this is sarcasm or not.
Just in case it isn’t - it’s obviously reference to late DMX’s legendary song with the same title.

I believe this is a power play between Horner and Verstappen family at this point. I’m not defending anything Horner allegedly did, but it clearly isn’t just a workplace harassment case…

SUVs and crossovers are most popular cars in Europe.
Here’s a French source, coincidentally: https://www.lemonde.fr/en/economy/article/2023/09/14/suvs-now-dominate-european-car-market_6135326_19.html

Sadly, it seems Meta made some good decisions in LLM area at least. Llama is a de facto base of most good 7b and 13b LLMs, the ones that have potential on running on low grade hardware.

And the counter argument against contrarians is that it’s not an issue that the monsters are uninspired copies. I mean it’s not like they are the leitmotiv of the game... I guess GameFreak managed to set the bar very low.
I’m reallu happy that people are enjoying the game, especially with GF underdelivering for so long, but to me, the game looks like an asset flip with heavy… inspiration in monster design.

GameFreak sucks big time, one of the worst first party devs Nintendo has in their roster, but Palworld is such a bland, uninspired and generic attempt at copying Pokemon that I still can’t fathom how it became so popular.

Sadly, this. Average consumer, and I don’t mean it as an insult, will not look for an alternative to streaming. All these giant streaming companies are gauging how far they can go to increase the profit margins.

The conclusion of the research is that solution energy efficient and cheaper. Smart bulbs are nice, but they solve neither of the issues mentioned. They need to be powered on all the time and you still need the switches either way, unless you design your home to be solely smartphone controlled but nobody does that.

Quite frankly it still leaves the effect. Same goes for dark photos - that’s actually even worse. Trying to create a picture of dark wooded area always results with some sort of weird lighting be it moon or whatever fake source it generates - and yea, that’s already with “darkening” Loras and negative embeddings. If you mean photography-related lighting terms then even with that I find the lighting unnatural.

Looks like a typical Stable Diffusion model. All of them have the same problem - lighting. It's always with that bad front facing "flash" effect.

Did you? It says that it at one point MIGHT be useful to chimerize the monkeys to research neurodegenrative diseases. Making it glowing was just to make shit easier for them, not for any scientific purposes.
And yeah, I get it, scientific breakthrough comes with a cost, but there’s reason why primates are not generally getting chimerized…

It’s great that peak scientific minds are trying to create green, glowing monkeys. It’s not like humanity is bothered by plethora of problems. Let’s chill and torture some monkeys instead.

I was 7 and I found a booklet for BASIC programming language that came with my C64. I was fucking ecstatic that I could just write words and make computer go brrrr. My first project was my school schedule in a form of a table created with n number of print statements. I felt like a fucking wizard.

I sideload F1TV on Andorid on Bravia TV with an apk from apkmirror and it works completely fine. I still don't understand why they restrict it on some versions of Android TV.

Also sure, let’s judge male white CEOs on merit. Let’s start with Elon Musk…
Also I can’t understand why there are people here assuming that the only way to “focus on having less white male CEOs” == eliminating them. This shit is done organically. Eliminating wage gap, providing equal opportunities in education etc.

How did you get from what I wrote to “tearing down” anyone is a bit puzzling. It’s simply about striving to change the status quo and not the AI model representing it. I’m not advocating guillotining Bezos or Musk, hope that’s clear.

Meanwhile every trained model on Civit.ai produces 12/10 Asian women...
Joking aside, what you feed the model is what you get. Model is trained. You train it on white people, it's going to create white people, you train it on big titty anime girls it's not going to produce WWII images either.
Then there's a study cited that claims Dall-e has a bias when producing images of CEO or director as cis-white males. Think of CEOs that you know. Better yet, google them. It's shit but it's the world we live in. I think the focus should be on not having so many white privileged people in the real world, not telling AI to discard the data.

I prefer GNOME to KDE but while I understand that there's research and philosophy behind some of the decisions, I just can't get around some of the quirks. "Workflow" itself is fine, with tiling on top, you can get by. But those window decorations… So much space is taken by a completely useless, fat bar at the top of each window even though it's not really aimed at being touchscreen native.

Weekly recommendation thread for older records. Things you keep going back to and want other people to appreciate. ##### [Fuming Mouth - The Grand Descent](https://fumingmouth.bandcamp.com/album/the-grand-descent) (ffo: Gatecreeper, Trap Them, Nails) I stumbled upon the band completely by accident, while skimming through Triple B's catalog. While not in line with the usual catalog of the label, it really is a nice blend of darkish death metal, crust and hardcore. Coupled with great artwork and Kurt Ballou's polish - the record really is a full package. ##### [No Time - You'll Get Yours LP](https://notimepgh.bandcamp.com/album/youll-get-yours-lp) (ffo: slower Snapshot, The Flex, Violent Reaction) I wish this band was less obscure and managed to record more than the LP and couple of singles. A very in-your-face-fuck-the-government-church-and-you record. It's fast. And simple. #### [Arkangel – Prayers Upon Deaf Ears](https://knivesoutrecords.bandcamp.com/album/prayers-upon-deaf-ears) (ffo: H8000) Technically not a H8000 band, but the aesthetically and lyrically it's indistinguishable from bands like Congress or Liar. I somehow managed to miss it in it's prime time.
