Do you know if this was done for the competition where everyone had to paint one of these sculpts?

He looks like someone just knocked his flaggon over and is going to get a punch
If anyone knows who the artist is let us know in the comments.

Very nice, I look forward to seeing the both take to the battlefield.

Always happy to see Captain Tycho. Metal or Finecast?
I'm not 100% sure, but looking at the art style I reckon this wonderful piece is by Russ Nicholson.

Ah, they are including codices. I was thinking there are only 10 rulebooks and then thought well there were a few extras in 1st and 2nd edition I suppose and the chapter approved books for 3rd (but they didn't have great covers).

Nice Job.
You didn't want to wait around for the one with the ball gag?

Some awesome looking squat art from the Rogue Trader rulebook, by Pete Knifton

Rogue Trader was different in quite a few ways to what we know as 40k these days (or even 20years ago), a lot of the fun faded out as it was sanitised over the years. It's a real shame, but GW is raking it so I doubt they regret their decision.

The Rogue Trader books are full of Space Marines getting absolutely destroyed, 2nd ed onwards they are portrayed as the heroes fighting evil so that largely disappeared.
Another piece of art from the Rogue Trader rulebook, I think he might be in need of an apothecary.
This awesome diorama was entered into Golden Demon back in the late 80's and feature in one of the Fantasy Miniatures books published by Games Workshop.

A other folks have mentioned it's Angron.
There were a bunch of sweet epic models for the demon primarchs and greater demons.

Well now I need to practice looking my Great Uncle Ian in the eye without chuckling.
And if anyone is interested there was a rather long chat with Adi over on the Crown of Command youtube channel recently. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2U9Z3_G5Dr8

No problem, glad you enjoyed it. His other videos are definitely worth a watch.

He describes it as basically snakes and ladders in the review, which in my experience is not too far off the truth.

Not sure about that. The Eldar Vyper is probably still around (one day games workshop will update to the Eldar range properly), but the main part of it is the 3rd edition Dark Eldar Raider which I think was replaced during 5th edition.

It certainly does, I love Ian Millers work. I think his fantasy art for Death on the Reik portrays wonderfully twisted version of fantasy as well.

😂 Oh well, guess I need to get better a proof reading
I'm not 100% sure, but I think this is by Ian Miller

Well new in 1982 when issue 32 of White Dwarf was released. I particularly like the way they have incorporated the classic Citadel Miniatures logo into the art.
Answers on a postcard, featured in White Dwarf 70.
Taken from White Dwarf 41
This wasn't specifically attributed in the magazine, but looking at the style I assume it is by Russ Nicholson who sadly died earlier this year. Feel free to correct me if you know better.
A classic piece of John Blanche artwork

Right?

Looking good like that.
Honestly I'd just leave them black, trying to paint yellow stripes over black will send you mad.
fearofthedark 11 months ago • 100%
Hazard stripes is another good option and yellow goes super nicely with red.

This is a really cool concept, nicely executed too. The fact that GW went there you go have some kroot that'll do is a real middle finger to tau players.

Congrats to Doctor Spork and well done to everyone who entered, there is no competition with out you.
I look forward to seeing all the entries next year.

Ooooooh, I had not spotted him. That's a nice model too, it even has a metal backpack!
And once again GW if you are reading this, look an awesome exodite model! Why not try making some yourself!!!

Interesting, how were the castings?
I know someone who was moaning about the quality of the casting on their made to order metal Yarrick. They were going on about how the model was a mess compared to stuff from the 90s. I assumed it was because they make so few metal minis at GW these days.

Good call, just had a look. It seems that the only old models left (warp spiders and fire dragons) are now cast in resin.

I immediately went to check when I saw your original comment. I also should have known as I think I had the one on foot back when he was released as part of the original fellowship set.

You know what, I didn't think to look through the Middle Earth stuff.
I've had a look through the site, but may have missed something. Everything else seems to be plastic or resin (shudder). That said, I may have missed something.

That is some lovely work, especially the metal. It looks so shiny.
I love this amazing Doom Blaster conversion. The answer to what do you do when you have half a Basilisk in your bitz box. The original epic model is pretty…er…epic too: ![](https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/9bf58713-3a2c-4fa3-872a-cc0a99dcaf1d.jpeg)
They've also had great interviews recently with Gav Thorpe ( https://bedroombattlefields.com/hobby-qa-with-gav-thorpe/ ) and Tuomas Pirinen ( https://bedroombattlefields.com/qa-tuomas-pirinen/ ) definately worth a listen.

Absolutely beautiful, I am very envious of your spiky balls.
I would just like to point out this is the genuine caption for this picture when it was published.
So I thought it would be cool to share where we all get our podcast fix. I'm always looking for more stuff for my ears to listen to whilst my hands are busy. So thought I would see what you all enjoyed. My current favourite is the ['The Bedroom Battlefields Tabletop Miniature Hobby Podcast'](https://bedroombattlefields.com/podcast/) , I know not the most catchy title, but it's nice and relaxed and doesn't take itself too seriously. Plus their latest episode has an interview Gav Thorpe, so that is well worth a listen. Let us know your picks.
The pages at the back of the Citadel Journal used to contain 'Dok Butcha's Klinik' where they used to suggest examples of the kinds of conversions you could make from the citadel miniature range.
