'A part of me is cavalier about survival... I can be a lunatic at times' - Rhod Gillbert and Angela Barnes on tackling one of the world's most dangerous roads
I've been running this community for a while now and want sure how it would plan out. Thank you all for subscribing and posting both beautiful and creepy fae folk art. (Edit: I meant to post a bit more often myself but due to personal issues it's fallen by the wayside a bit) As a Christmas special, _in this thread only_, please post photos of your Christmas tree fairies. 🧚 ![](https://thumbs2.imgbox.com/91/15/bRdSBnUh_t.jpg) ![](https://thumbs2.imgbox.com/41/ea/sLnc4SnA_t.jpg) (I'm posting this from an alt as feddit.uk is down)

I post about the original Direct Debit website from time to time and get the impression nobody cares. So I thought I'd try you lot! It's the most surreal "corporate" website I've ever seen, a product from the early web when the website was just run by the work experience kid and nobody in management actually understood what it was. It's worth going forward to 1998-ish on web.archive.org too, as it was refreshed a bit then. I fairly recently managed to locate the Man vs Marrow screensaver, maybe I'll post about that some other time.
For discussion of all things teletext! Searching for this URL usually works on Lemmy: * [https://fedia.io/m/teletext](https://fedia.io/m/teletext) This address should work for kbin: * [@teletext](https://fedia.io/m/teletext) Alternatively: * [/c/teletext@fedia.io](/c/teletext@fedia.io) * !teletext

A box has just turned up with My City: Roll & Write and Lost Cities (unintended city theme in this order), so I'll be playing those!

Yes, sorry, I didn't want to have to log into a different account to do moderation - federated moderating doesn't appear to work across Lemmy/Kbin yet.

Tried twice, got stuck on the chess notation each time, even though I thought the move I was putting in was pretty good, it obviously wasn't the best.
I created a new community/magazine for British/UK comedy discussion - sitcoms, stand-ups, etc. One of the below should work, I've found that pasting the URL into search works best for Lemmy: [British Comedy](/c/ukcomedy@fedia.io) !ukcomedy [@ukcomedy](/m/ukcomedy) !British Comedy@fedia.io [https://fedia.io/m/ukcomedy](https://fedia.io/m/ukcomedy)

I can see that following a book might make sense. Maybe put a feature request in at https://github.com/bookwyrm-social/bookwyrm ?
chris 1 year ago • 100%
You turn up and my 500 errors go away! I take it the federation breaking and the 500 errors are linked?
chris 1 year ago • 100%
Following magazines doesn't work currently, I think that's a known bug (or not implemented feature).
It will only pick up hashtags from accounts that are being followed by accounts here (and in theory on other kbin instances, although I'm not convinced the magazine hashtags federate)
There seems to be issues following certain account, if it's set as a bot kbin won't even see it, and I suspect there are other causes of this too (maybe follower approval?)
chris 1 year ago • 100%
Mine was stable when you first posted this, but after maybe an hour I started getting 500s again. Currently if I try to look at subscriptions it throws that error, other areas seem ok at the moment.
chris 1 year ago • 100%
No worries! This is new and I appreciate the time and effort you are spending on it.

I'm getting 500s on the homepage and on my /sub page. Federation seems to have stopped again too.
A fairly minor update to my AmigaOS 3.2 ReAction-based unarchived. Changes in this version: Fix setting of list mode Remove tree in list mode view (Reposted due to federation issues on my home server)

Thank you! It appears to be working now - I've just seen a load of new articles posted by non-Fedia users!
chris 1 year ago • 100%
I think that was supposed to be a reply to @markrprior - but you can try @tedmusicbot
It just doesn't show up in search. If I toggle the bot status off it can then be followed. note this works both ways - the bot cannot follow users or magazines here either. I did post an issue to the Kbin repo, if it turns out to be Fedia specific configuration I will close it.

Notifications are running about a day behind. I've just had a load of my posts federated to Mastodon after two days. The server is overloaded, have patience.
chris 1 year ago • 100%
It was a comment on a thread posted from Mastodon to test something. I deleted it and the thread afterwards, but it came through OK without me trying to force it. I've posted to a kbin.social group in the last hour and it doesn't appear to have federated though (none of my posts from this account have reached Mastodon in the last 5 hours). I'm hoping this is just down to server load.
chris 1 year ago • 100%
It was trailing behind by about a day, but, yes, no posts from non-fedia members is odd. Federation is working as I was playing with Mastodon and Fedia earlier and the posts were flowing.
chris 1 year ago • 100%
It was deduced that I couldn't follow certain Mastodon accounts because they were marked as "bot". I'm not sure if Lemmy communities have flags attached to them which are effectively the same as Mastodon's "bot" one, but if so maybe that community does? Is there anything different about it compared to the ones which work?

I think it's a bug. Can't see it in the tracker so it might be worth reporting?

The Calckey thing is because it's a thread. Calckey (I've not used it so just guessing) probably puts the title as the CW, and the body below.
If you post a microblog you'll get just the text.

There's a notifications section (in user settings) which has options for "response to my comments". They were all off for me by default. I do get notifications but I got a couple this morning for things I'd already clocked had been replied to yesterday, so they are seriously delayed atm.
chris 1 year ago • 100%
@fratermus The microblogs are mostly for Mastodon, as you can't post a new thread from there. The "default" microblog is "random".

Ace, thanks.
There's a button when creating a thread which says "OC" with no further explanation. I've seen "OC" noted to the left of thread titles, presumably because somebody has ticked "OC". What does it mean??!

With the Cities expansion it goes up to eight too. Pretty simple to explain and as turns are simultaneous the extra player doesn't add any time (unless they are particularly slow)
chris 1 year ago • 100%
Mysterium - identify the suspect by looking at abstract cards given by a ghost (goes up to 7 players I think; use the original Ukrainian rules!)
Shikoku - interesting movement game, goes up to eight players
Eclipse - epic space exploration and battles, nine players with the expansion (I've never played it nine players, it would probably take about a week and need a banqueting table to put it on)

As an aside, I tried following this community from Bookwyrm, but it just got stuck on "follow requested". I don't think it would have shown anything anyway, but interesting that it can't even follow it.
chris 1 year ago • 100%
I've had a Bookwyrm account for about a year - I mainly read fantasy fiction. It's at @chris (https://wyrms.de/@chris)
I originally posted this from Mastodon but it doesn't appear to have federated properly, so apologies if this is a duplicate!

@matt_panaro I'm getting all the comments boosted - I'm not sure I've seen any articles either. Following #Kbin magazines doesn't appear to do anything at all. I created a Kbin account so I can follow things more successfully for now...
