Well Im imitating Norse period tablet woven patterns, though Im unsure if they'd match any archeological finds exactly since Im not trying to be super period accurate. The tunic and leg wraps are Norse as well, but Im not well versed on the historical accuracy of their cut/style.
Tablet weaving itself has been around for much longer, back to at least the 800s bc afaik so its not specific to any one culture, but im definitely trying to emulate a viking style of dress.

Nice, new mega right after I finish my latest project, perfect timing! As usual, spoiler just to keep the spam down:
::: spoiler belt time Heres the whole belt, its about 56in/1.4m in length, which is on the shorter side of my belts, but since I used some of the lenght to make trimmings for my tunic's cuffs it makes sense. It works fine as a belt as well, not too short or long.
Pattern close up
Heres the back, non-reversible unfortunately but thats not a big deal.
And here it is with my tunic. I love the way it matches with the trim, it works perfectly. It works better with the black tunic vs just the white one, but together they work best since the trim is on the white one. Most of my belts are going to be presents for Yule but I'm keeping this one for myself.
(inappropriate use of a penannular brooch here, but it holds really well and looks nice) :::

Nope, sorry. I dont really know anyone else who weaves, Im not active in any circles I just work on my own. And as far as tablet weaves go I dont know of any stores on etsy that sell anything with pride themed patterns either.
There are a lot of pride themed patterns on https://twistedthreads.org/, like this one, or you can just modify the colors of a pattern you like, but tablet weaving is a lot of effort for something thats gonna be as small as a lanyard.
Idk if anyone else will be interested in this but I got sick of all the uploads of the longship songs from AC Valhalla being low quality, so I recorded them myself and made them into a little album. The official soundtracks "The Weft of Spears" and "The Wave of Giants" they released do have Old Norse versions of most of these songs but they never released the English versions as well. They're a little odd, and the Old Norse lyrics definitely fit better meter/rhythm wise, but I really loved these versions so I wanted to be able to listen to them like normal songs. I also uploaded higher quality and slightly better mixed MP3 and OGG files on Mega if anyone wants those: https://mega.nz/folder/QIQmRRRL#IIR6FPoxvrcksHPFecf6ew

Thank you! Its one I've been working on for a while. I made two strips that I cut off from the rest of the warp a while ago and Im just now getting around to finishing the rest.

Hot Take: you can only be racist to humans.
asa_red_heathen 3 months ago • 100%
Pitbull hysteria is rooted in racism against their human owners, not the Pitbulls themselves.
asa_red_heathen 3 months ago • 100%
My specific argument is with you comparing differences in dog breeds to phrenology. I'm not saying that dogs of a specific breed are more aggressive; Im saying that comparing dog breeds on a morphological level is not the same as comparing human races on a morphological level. Phrenology is a pseudoscience specifically because human races do not vary morphologically, especially not in skull shape. You can easily measure a dog's skull to tell a Great Dane from a Chihuahua, which is why I used those breeds as an example.
asa_red_heathen 3 months ago • 100%
Im sorry but can you not see how a Chihuahua and a Great Dane are physically different from one another? One can entirely fit into the others mouth. I'm not arguing that Pit hysteria isnt founded in racism, but the concept that dogs breeds cannot be any more different from each other than human "races" are is insane.
Your own sources above specifically state that different breeds are identifiable through genetic testing, idk exactly what else you want from me here.
asa_red_heathen 3 months ago • 100%
You cant be racist against dogs
asa_red_heathen 3 months ago • 100%
No it is not lmao. Dog breeds most certainly do have drastic morphological differences created by humans selectively breeding them for thousands of years.
asa_red_heathen 3 months ago • 100%
Yeah this and this are absolutely more different from each other than a black person and a white person are from each other. Dogs have been selectively bred for ten thousand years, and they've been very specifically bred for different roles, literally changing their physical shape. Human beings have not, we're all pretty much the same. Unless you're going to argue that domestication and animal husbandry are fake then I do not see how this is equivalent to differences in melanin production.
asa_red_heathen 3 months ago • 100%
That is true, Im not disputing that, but comparing the differences between dog breeds, which are wildly different morphologically, is not equivalent to phrenology and race science. Human races are not morphologically different from each other, race is a social construct.
asa_red_heathen 3 months ago • 100%
You're saying that analyzing the behavior of different breeds is equivalent to phrenology, which implies that human "races" are as equivalently different from each other as dog breeds are, which is of course nonsense and racist.

did you just compare humans to dog breeds?

Hey @Parzivus@hexbear.net, responding to your message from the last thread:
I dont use a "real" loom for my work. I just cobbled together one from a couple of folding tables I strapped upsidedown to chairs then attached some cardboard rolls to hold up the warp.
Its not to big, certainly not the size of a giant loom youd see someone making rugs on. I can move the chairs away from each other to facilitate larger works
asa_red_heathen 3 months ago • 100%
First part of my current weave is done! I made two little strips and turned them into trim for my tunic's sleeves. Took about half the length I loaded onto the loom so hopefully I have enough left for a full belt, maybe Ill just do a headband or something. Anyway they look fantastic:
Here are the strips before they were sewn on. Theyre both thirteen repeats of the pattern long, though one ended up a few millimeters shorter.
Here they are on my white under-tunic
Heres what it looks like with the black tunic on top. I really like this look, they work perfectly with the two combined.
Closer look
And heres the back. They were just long enough for the frayed edges to meet when finished so I just sewed up over them to hold them down and theyre perfect.
