Feels like a font issue. Do you have e.g. nerdfont installed and in use in your terminal? You could check the config for plugins that makes that style, and check which fonts are in use. Could also be powerline fonts that are needed: https://github.com/powerline/fonts

For me, Andreas Kling and his work on the SerenityOS and Ladybird browser is enjoyable to watch. I recommend watching the JIT-series, Jakt-series (his and JT's programming language they created). Actually all the series on the channel are great 😄 Also JT's videos on Nushell and his series on the NES-emulator written with Jakt are good.

Legend of the red dragon, LORD, oli yks niistä ensimmäisistä tekstipohjaisista peleistä mitä tuli hakattua aikoinaan päivittäin. Yks toinen peli mitä pelattiin kaverin broidin amigalla, en muista nimeä, oli sellanen shooteri jossa molemmat oli ruudun alareunassa oikealla ja vasemmalla ja ammuttiin vihuja jotka juoksenteli sivuilta tynnyreiden ja muiden esteiden taakse... Harmittaa kun en yhtään muista tuon pelin nimeä. Joku sotilaspeli se oli, missä joystickillä liikuteltiin tähtäintä ja annettiin mennä 😅

Joku mainitsi toisessa keskustelussa LORDin, josta tuli sellanen fläsäri takasin 90-luvulle et huh! Se on sellainen peli jota tuli hakattua ihan helvetisti. Death Rally tuo myös paljon hyvä muistoja mieleen. Tsekkasin tänä päivänä miltä se peli näyttää... Ei vastannut ihan muistoja 😅 se oli silloin ihan sikahiano!

At this point in time, since it's under heavy development, I wouldn't use it as a daily driver. I hope some day it will have enough features to compete with all the other browsers. I just wanted to bring Ladybird up so it gets some visibility in the world.

It's an open source browser, continuously being worked on, started from scratch, so it'll be a while before there are enough support for all the websites in the world. Even the JavaScript engine is built from scratch, which makes this project really exciting IMHO.

As I mentioned it's still in it's early days. They're working on the standards and support for all CSS properties and JS at the same time. The pages don't work yet, but things are moving forward every day. Don't know if someone will work on an Android version, it's open source after all. Currently it's working on SerenityOS and Linux.

I just wanted to voice out that there are alternatives in the works, that has nothing to do with Google or the other big tech companies.

I want to add Ladybird as one option for a new browser. It's still in its early days, but is under active development. I hope that one day it'll be in such a shape that it could be used as a daily driver. It's Open Source and built from scratch. It's awesome to follow the development of such a big project!

Itse olin lähinnä vain seuraajana Redditissä, enkä juurikaan kommentoinut mihinkään saati sitten avannut keskusteluja. Koko Redditin touhu meni kyllä niin överiksi, että siihen meni maku aivan täysin. Vaikka täällä sopulissa on vielä aika vähän käyttäjiä, ja keskustelujen määrä ei ole samalla tasolla kuin Redditissä, niin uskon kuitenkin fediverseen ja sen voimaan hyvänä vaihtoehtona Evil Corp. firmoille. Tätä kautta olen löytänyt yllättävän paljon avoimia, fediverseen pohjautuvia alustoja. Aikamoinen kaninkolo kyllä, täytyy myöntää! Kyllä tämä vielä tästä!

One question for the admin; I see an instance hasn't been federated with sopuli (it's not blocked either), what should be done to be able to subscribe to the unfederated instance communities? I just get community_not_found error when trying to access the community URL via sopuli.xyz. Search doesn't find it either.

Itse olen testaillut vähän kaikkea, ja tällä hetkellä päätynyt wefwef ja liftoff appeihin. Androidilla Jerboa kaatui joka kerta kun yritin avata appia, Connect for Lemmy ei ole open sourcea, joten päädyin näiden kahden testailuun. Molemmissa on vielä työtä, mutta vaikuttaa ihan lupaavalta.

Open sourcing the codebase would most definitely increase the interest in the app, and as such also invite people to contribute to the project.

This is also probably one reason many will skip the app, because of not being open source.

Hmm.. but, how does it work in another app for the same exact post? That's what confused me most.

Using Connect because Jerboa just kept crashing on me at startup. Never got to test it out. Problems do exist in Connect, as e.g. I could not comment on this post in the app. Will check out Thunder and Lift off as well, so thanks for the suggestions!

Edit: I literally just found out that you have to hit the huge plus-button at the bottom right to add a comment.. I always thought it was for creating a new post 🤦‍♂️
