I think it's more important than ever. Software is getting slower and slower, and the bloat is ridiculous. Imho this is because we just work with abstractions over abstracions ignorant to how it will be computed on a real machine. I think a more appropriate methapor would be, that you can speak and understand language (program) while being illiterate at the same time (not having a fundamental understanding on how a computer works). Of course this is a exaggeration, you don't need to know about these stuff to be a adequate programmer I think.

I do the same. I have 500GiB storage for my Pi4, which I use for torrenting and Kodi. I delete stuff if I watched it and it reaches 2:1 seed ratio, or after a couple of months. So in a way I don't really have a collection.

Why entertainment is a luxury, knowledge and education is basically what human civilization is built upon and should be free. Of course the reality is that people need money in the current system we live in and we have to reward those somehow who dedicates their time and efforts to education.

So I've arrived to a conundrum... Because I think morally it's more acceptable to pirate educational content (imho), but I'm also more likely to pay the educators, as it is a very important job. Of course this does not apply to when someone just gatekeeps knowledge because of greed, it's very similar to charity fraud in my book

Such hateful ideas are a symptom which can have wast variety of root cause. Your example is quite extreme and I agree it rightfully warrants hatred, but I'd argue that it's all the more reason to not dismiss a person. We should seek connection with and understand these people and prevent destructive ideas from spreading IMHO, because there will be others who also won't dismiss the person - only difference is that they might be receptive for hateful ideas. Sorry if I came across supporting these ideas, this is not the case.

Moreover, they were working on Source 2, HL: Alyx and Counter Strike 2 recently, which I would say is immense work for a company, even more so considering their very humble employee count (compared to direct competitors, e.g. Epic)

Why or why not?" or "If you are using X, why and how?". This currently just reflects the OP's opinion for validation I guess?

Really, even if there is supposedly 5 million USD in damages, are there any proof that anyone working at Rockstar games will feel the impact as a person? It is such a huge company I bet they wouldn't even feel it. Maybe there needs to be some cost cutting here and there, or maybe some people will lose some jobs? But neither warrants lifelong confinement - this is something you might get if you ruin someones life forever.

    Jump
  • Suppoze Suppoze 11 months ago 100%

It makes sense for me in third person games. Imagine a stick stuck in the protagonist head from behind. You are the camera behind the character, imagine you grabbing the stick and rotating the head with that. You have to pull the stick down for the character to look up, and push it upwards to look down. By the same logic, you have to move it left for the character to look right, and vice versa. The stick is the analog stick on the gamepad.

Once you get used to this control scheme, it's quite hard to re-learn non-inverted controls.

Yes! To add to this, please let me invert the analog stick camera controls. Both axis! My biggest pet peeve is when a game let's you invert the Y axis, but not the X... Why? You were so close dammit how much effort is adding the other really?

Kind of like a wiki, I'm just taking markdown notes and sometimes create a link to another related note. Also, good at handling attachments and embeds. I haven't used anything else (maybe tags nowadays... But that's it) Thing is, if you like markdown then you should give it a go.

I have not found any news article on this on a whim. Because my friends and family, I need to use Facebook Messenger, and Messenger Lite was a OK client - lightweight, no unnecessary features, etc., compared to the regular Messenger app. Now I'm a little torn, having a Meta app on my phone is already bad, but having to downgrade to the bloated Messenger app?
