Steam refunds are easy and convenient. I wouldn't personally bother doing that just to post a "protest review" either, but it's definitely possible to do without losing any money.

No, that's incorrect. None of the previous games required it, except for multiplayer. For example you could play the Ghost of Tsushima campaign just fine without an account. This one seems to be entirely singleplayer and yet requires an account for no reason.

By and large I support them, including the ones doing more "direct" action. However, not every group calling themselves "environmental" are automatically getting my support. Some are choosing the wrong targets (e.g. Nuclear power, GMOs), others the wrong means (pouring sauces over art is just weird and not related to the environment). Greenpeace in particular is often quite misguided in their positions and actions IMO.

Honestly, I've heard or read very little about Iraq after the war, so I have no idea what happened there since then. Unfortunately I think the country is still mostly being associated with war and crisis here in Germany. I think it's a very interesting place especially for its ancient history though. Some of the first highly developed civilizations arose there. Would love to visit places like Ur, Babylon or Nineveh one day.

The UN was created after WW2 to prevent another world war and have a diplomatic channel between all countries that is always open. It's far from perfect, but it's definitely better than what we had before.

Removing a country from the UN for doing horrible things would defeat the UN's entire purpose.

I use Organic Maps regularly and I'd love to get rid of Google Maps eventually, but they don't really fulfill the same purpose to me. It's awesome for hiking (which Google Maps is useless for) but meh for Navigation and almost useless for finding information about shops, restaurants etc in an area.

Only thing I can think of are maybe the catching mechanics (which are straight out of Legends: Arceus). No idea if these would be considered unique enough to be patentable, guess we'll find out.

Crazy, that tactic sounds straight out of a science fiction novel - 80s science-fiction, given it's pagers, but still... I really wonder how they pulled it off. Did the IDF design the explosive pagers in the first place or did they find some insane hardware/software flaw that allowed that kind of remote explosion?

Great bundle, but not worth it for me as I already own 5 of those games. I highly recommend Ragnarock and Pistol Whip. Spin Rhythm XD is great as well, but only really in 2D as the VR mode is very meh.

Interesting map, but at least for Germany, it's quite an odd mix of current-day cultural regions, historic cultural regions from various times and historic administrative regions. It's really all over the place. I'm not sure the person who made this has any proper definition on what makes up a "historical region".

so… I take the multiplayer parts are going to be going away soon-ish, as offline mode is incoming and 1€ pricetag atm? Is this a last squeeze for the game?
Maybe, but it's worth noting that Ubi gave away the Crew 1 for free back in 2016, 7 years before it shut down. So I wouldn't necessarily take this sale as an indication of a shutdown coming soon (though it definitely could happen).

FWIW, they've announced they'll add an offline mode to this game. Personally I liked this game less that The Crew 1 when I played it during a free weekend though.

My unpopular internet opinion is that RoP Season 1 was actually pretty good, so if they stay on that path with season 2 I have little to complain about.
"An unsettling number of folks break into song" is a weird criticism for a Tolkien-based series. If anything, that was something the LOTR movies lacked.

I've been playing the new Guild Wars 2 expansion "Janthir Wilds". Very enjoyable, with a nice setting and soundtrack.
I've bought Spin Rhythm XD on the recent Steam Sale. Quite a nice rhythm game, with excellent native Steam Deck support.
I've also been giving Deadlock a go. So far hasn't really clicked for me though. Doesn't help that I'm not a big MOBA player, the only one I've enjoyed so far is Heroes of the Storm.

I'd love to get another singleplayer game as well, but I've accepted that Valve is just unpredictable. I'm sure they haven't given up on Singleplayer and we'll get another singleplayer game... at some point. Their previous game was the fantastic Half-life Alyx after all.

Sometimes it's okay to just disagree. With a topic like AI, the effectiveness of arguments against it will vary heavily depending on one's subjective opinion on things like intellectual property, what is and isn't art, how we should deal with emerging technologies etc.

Reading the full statement, it sounds to me like there was more to it than just the game's development coming to an end. It sounds like it might have been a very sudden decision by the publisher, with possible negative consequences for the development team.
In principle I agree though, there is no issue with a game just being finished at some point, especially a single player one. But I also don't mind continued updates and/or DLC.

what if, by giving the lesser evil more energy and making them a greater evil, you give them the ability to put you in prison camps when the original greater evil could not?
You haven't explained how that is supposed to work though. Why couldn't the greater evil do this, what's stopping them? And you truly think that every political party has the very same goals underneath? Let's take an extreme example: Germany 1932. You think if the SPD (social democrats) had won the election instead of the NSDAP, it would have been just as bad? You think they would have also slaughtered all the Jews and started WW2, because they were secretly just as evil? That doesn't sound reasonable or realistic to me. There's more to politics than whether a party is capitalist or socialist. Nuances exist.

How far capitalists and the state are willing to go is as far as they think they can get away with.
I don't agree with this, but going along with it for the sake of the argument: By letting the greater evil get into power, you are showing them that they can get away with way more than if it were the lesser.
So let's say you didn't vote for the lesser evil and the greater evil has narrowly won. The greater evil takes away your right to vote and puts you into a prison camp. What have you gained, a sense of moral superiority? Was that worth it?

It'll likely be like 2020, you can play offline but it'll be a much less detailed version of the planet. They pretty much have to use streaming for the high-detail environments, as nobody would have the disk space for it otherwise.

I'm currently waiting for all the components for my PC upgrade to arrive. Got the motherboard today and immediately upon opening, I noticed that the CMOS battery was not in its slot but just kind of next to it loose on top of the board. The slot seems fine, it seems to fit securely in there. No scratches on the board either. But now I'm a bit worried - could the battery have shorted something on the motherboard? It holds a charge after all. What do you think - should I return it for a new one untested or are the chances of the battery harming anything so miniscule that I should just go for it and use it in my build?
The Steam Deck's multitouch screen might be its most underutilised feature. Until recently, I wasn't even sure whether devs could use it for anything more than simple mouse emulation. But I've just started playing "Sky: Children of the Light" on my Deck (which is generally a great experience on Deck, especially on the OLED with 90Hz HDR) and I found that when using a musical instrument, you can actually use the touchscreen to play up to 10 notes at the same time. This got me curious: Do you know if there are any other games on Deck using multitouch, or is Sky the first one that does it?
Für mich 90% Übereinstimmung mit Volt
