People are leaning into the hate circlejerk way too hard, apart from the forum rant they have handled this situation pretty well. They addressed GN's concerns in their apology video by improving their workflows and communication, and are now hiring an investigator for Madison's claims. I can't really think of anything more that they could do, but I guess some people just want to be mad.

This should have been the first response instead of the unhinged rant Linus posted on the forum. If they actually go through with the things they said in the video and fix their workflows and communication issues this should be a big boost to LTT's reliability as a source. Good on GN for giving Linus the reality check he desperately needed. Would have been nice to hear something about Madisons allegations, but they probably scheduled the video to go live before madison posted them. Hopefully they make a follow up video about them.

I bought a couple of hoodies from them on sale, so I'm in a similar situation. Luckily most of their merch is pretty stealthy so the only people who would recognise them are other ltt viewers. I just hope that Linus can get his head out of his ass and give a proper apology and make things right

This response has made me lose so much respect for LTT. Linus really needs to learn when to shut up and stop digging himself into these holes. He could have just apologized, compensated Billet properly and worked on fixing whatever communication issues his team has, but instead he wrote a long non-apology where he deflected blame, tripled down on the Billet situation and just straight up lied about compensating them. Very scummy behaviour from Linus.

Reddit was already full of repost bots and karma farmers when the only reward was fake internet points, the site will become completely unusable if they add real money into the mix

Those games were such a fever dream. I genuinely have no memory of what happened in any of them, I just vaguely remember controlling an army of eyeball men with drums

What types of games are you playing? Sounds like you are describing a generic AAA "live service" game, there are plenty of fun games but you have to search for them in a sea of soulless corporate cashgrabs. I would recommend trying games by smaller developers. If you want to play with friends I would recommend indie co-op games like risk of rain 2 or deep rock galactic. Or maybe you are just burnt out on gaming? Never hurts to take a break, try another hobby for a bit and come back reinvigorated

Either platinuming sekiro or beating devil may cry 5 on dante must die difficulty, I'm not sure which is better. Platinum sounds more impressive, but according to steam achievement stats dmc5 dmd is rarer so I guess I'll pick that one

The center-right Swedish People's Party, which is part of the government coalition, voted against him. The fact that the parties are already disagreeing and infighting doesn't exactly fill me with confidence for the next 4 years of government :D

LTT makes good videos that are hidden behind obnoxious thumbnails. I hate how it's sometimes impossible to tell what a video is about because the title is so vague, but I understand why they do it. He has a company to run, he has employees to pay. He has said multiple times that he doesn't like it, but it would be a stupid to not do it because a bright colored thumbnail with a face going :O gets way more views than anything else. Clickbait haters are such a small minority that it's worth doing because 95% of people don't care

I'm much younger so I never really got to use these smaller forums, I grew up with a centralised and corporate internet where everyone used the same handful of websites. And then began the enshittification. All the sites I used started getting worse with every update so I stopped using them one by one, with the most recent one being reddit. Moving to the fediverse made me realise just how little I was actually enjoying those sites. I wasn't browsing them for content or for discussion, I was browsing them because I was addicted. Uninstalling the apps and deleting my accounts has done wonders for my mental health, and the smaller community here is so much nicer and more welcoming than the toxic ocean that is social media.

True, browsing here has made me realize just how toxic and low quality reddit threads were. The users here feel a lot more mature and disagreements can lead to discussions, while on reddit some 12 year old would just reply with "L take" and downvote you :D

when users talk about problems/culture/anything specific to their instance, they don't tend to specify which instance they are talking about. which makes things confusing for users seeing the post on other instances.
this can be added with kbin enhancement script. OP shows up as thebestlettuce@lemmy.blahaj.zone for me.
searching for communities on a lemmy instance only shows communities from lemmy instances, and the same for kbin.
the magazine search seems to find lemmy communities just fine. If i search "cats", for example, I can find Cats@kbin.social, cat@lemmy.world, cats@midwest.social, cats@sh.itjust.works etc.
Hi, I'm a bit confused by how comment sorting works on kbin. Newest and oldest are pretty self-explanatory, but how do active and hot work? Is there a way to sort comments by top like on lemmy?
