Thanks for the response! I mentioned in another comment that I am looking into buying Spanish language versions of Marquez books but this is generally something I am saving for B2/near C1 fluency level. I originally was going to turn subtitles off for the Mexican scenes in Breaking Bad but all learning Spanish has done is make me realise just how bad Giancarlo Esposito is at speaking it lol. I've read some children level stories in Spanish and have generally found this easy to follow along with so I am going to be moving on from this and look for more challenging material.

Yeah, this sounds a lot better. Am excited to give it a go. Funnily enough I have also recently started practicing medical terms/speaking to a doctor in Spanish lol.

This is an idea I've played around with although I haven't used this particular app. I used ChatGPT as well as a bot called HyperGlot on Character.AI but I will have to check this one out too since it seems specifically focused on language learning. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yeah this is another thing I am doing that I failed to mention in my original post. I have been listening to a lot of reggaeton and Spanish language music since like January which has helped and am also reading some stuff, next month I am planning on getting a Spanish language copy of "One Thousand Years of Solitude" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez which is one of my favourite novels.
Most of the nouns I've learned have come from interacting with Spanish media rather than note copying. I mostly used Duolingo and flashcards to teach me the grammar.

Yes this is exactly what I am looking for, thank you. We used Quizlet in high school and I still use it occasionally and have an account there. As for Quora... yeah, I've used Quora Spanish in the past and the content is questionable to say the least. The rest I have not used before and will look into them.

A lot of people say this but I found it useful as a beginner tool personally, I have ADHD and Duolingo was simply what I found to be the best entry tool for this reason due to its game element. The app basically being freemium at this point is a big problem I have with it but I don't think I would have been able to get into the habit of practicing without it. That said it has fulfilled its purpose for me and I don't use it that much anymore.
I made it my NYR this year to learn a second language and while I picked Russian at first I switched to Spanish for a few different reasons. I've been using Duolingo for about 6 months now but have gotten to the point (I'm around A2 if not very early B1 fluency) where I just don't find it very helpful on its own anymore and the new stuff I learn just doesn't stick to my mind as good anymore. I'd like to start incorporating other resources into my learning (which was the plan from the start) but have no idea where to start. I've incorporated note writing as well as flashcards into my learning as of a couple months ago, as well as trying to hold basic Spanish conversations with other people, but this is only really effective for perfecting what I've already studied. To anyone who learned Spanish or really any language, do you know of any other resources for learning the language? Gracias.

As others have pointed out drug criminalisation and the war on drugs has been used to persecute minority groups. However I also just don't think that making them illegal does anything to stop people from using them. This has already historically been proven back in the 1920s when prohibition was a thing. It just meant that people began drinking alcohol illegally. Alcohol related deaths actually went up during prohibition specifically because it wasn't being regulated.

I think Scotland will be the first to achieve independence from England since a good amount of people are starting to get sick of parliament. The UK used an obsolete law that's never been enforced just to make life harder for trans people and that's kind of been a big catalyst in Scottish independence gaining traction again. I don't think Northern Ireland will last much longer in the UK after that. The inevitable abolition of the monarchy will put an end to the UK since we wouldn't even be a Kingdom anymore. Either way this is definitely the end of the United KIngdom now and it's going to happen within the century.

It pretty much is. People are literally pulling their own teeth out because they can't get dental care, the cost of living crisis is so extreme that at one point I was spending £50 a week on food for just myself, the NHS is basically on its last legs due to conservative incompetence and people are dying of easily treatable cancers and illnesses because by the time they're actually seen to it's already too late. On top of that our government is sending money to Ukraine and supporting Israel, our politicians are turning the lynchings of trans people into a game of political football, and the entire political system is literally primarily based on documents that were written between the 13th and 18th centuries. If you think America sucks I genuinely do not see the UK surviving this decade.

It is sad but yeah, it was necessary in this case. A tranquilliser can take up to a few minutes to take effect and would not have guaranteed the kid's safety.
The overall issue however is not whether it was justified in this case but the zoos themselves. It is absolutely evil in my eyes to entrap animals in cages and exploit them for entertainment. The entire zoo industry is disgusting and needs to be rid of.

John Fogerty is unfortunately a self admitted lib but I've always liked this song.
Avid reader, especially political non-fiction. Interested in reading something about North Korea but am anticipating most books containing exaggerated and unverified claims and just being biased overall. Was wondering if anyone knew any good, unbiased books on North Korea? If any actually exist?
I want to learn how to speak Russian and have for years now, but have no idea where to begin. I don't think finding an actual tutor to help is really an option and I've used Duolingo in the past but don't really find it too helpful. Anyone had any experience with learning Russian or even any language online?
