To be fair, it would make sense to divide megalopolises from large rural areas to create more proportional states for a functioning and equally representative democracy (as in a council/soviet democracy (or other forms of the dictatorship of the proletariat), not the plutocracy of the US). Beijing has a population of 21.9 million, while Wisconsin has a population of 5.9 million, so even as a city, Beijing is much larger than Wisconsin. It's an imperfect analogy not because Beijing is a city, but because Beijing is much bigger than Wisconsin, so in this regard, I would consider the analogy close enough.

Not a brand, though this answer will not help if you or someone else needs new clothes, but surviving with the clothes you already have and limiting your funds to support potentially genocide-supportive brands as well as limiting money circulating in one's imperialist country is an act of protest and is something to keep in mind if the option is available.

This option works for me because I kept so many clothes my family and friends gave me over many years, continue to wear the same few set of clothes until they are in shreds, and continue to use them for dirty work clothes and/or make plans to turn my old graphic tees into a blanket or curtain. I probably should get rid of clothes, but I kept them because they helped me save money. I am a bit of a hoarder, which is influenced by my poor upbringing.

Also buying second-hand stops money going directly to the businesses that made said products, and I always try to find anything I want or need to buy used, whether on eBay, at a thrift store, at a garage sale, from a friend, etc. first before resorting to buying it new.

I typically buy clothes at my local thrift store, especially if my work clothes rip or a zipper breaks. My mother has helped me sew some of my work clothes when I was really busy and really didn't want to purchase more clothes.

I agree. Keep in mind anything I post I may or may not agree with, and I am always willing to change my mind with feedback I get from here. I post things here because I am interested in listening to discussion.

I'd pick Valve over most game companies, but they are still a company, and I predict Valve will become worse over time unless they are bought or go under as the tendencies of capitalism lead toward greater monopolization. I have accepted that everything that I like and was produced in a capitalist system will be rotten and spoiled eventually.

What do you think of Xi, one of the richest man in China? Is it okay that he’s so wealthy when other people go hungry? Or is inequality only not okay in western countries?

In the 2023 Global Hunger Index, China is one of 20 countries with a GHI score of less than 5. These countries are not assigned individual ranks, but rather are collectively ranked 1–20 out of the 125 countries with sufficient data to calculate 2023 GHI scores. Differences between their scores are minimal. With a score under 5, China has a level of hunger that is low.

    https://www.globalhungerindex.org/china.html

Dietary habits in China have undergone profound changes in the past decade. Since the Economic Reform, the average disposable income has picked up rapidly, which led to a surge in food spending in both urban and rural households. Over the past four decades, China has drastically reduced its proportion of undernourished people, from 30 percent in 1979 to less than 2.5 percent. Today, meat and fish, once considered symbols of wealth, are part of the daily diet of ordinary people. Additionally, similar to its western counterparts, China's emerging middle class has become increasingly conscious of the importance of a healthy diet.

    What Chinese eat and drink

The rapid economic development of China and its well-developed transportation infrastructure have allowed Chinese to purchase food of all types from all over the country. As of 2021, nearly nine out of ten Chinese could afford a healthy meal. On Chinese dining tables, grain still dominates, but meat, vegetables, and fruits are gaining popularity. Between 2021 and 2026, China's protein intake is expected to grow by over 10 percent, significantly higher than any other region of the world.

Although undernourishment is no longer a threat to the public in China, a fully healthy diet is still a long way off. A major eating problem affecting the public is excessive consumption of sugar and salt. As of 2023, China's per capita salt intake exceeded 17.7 grams per day, more than three times the amount recommended by the WHO. A primary reason for the excessive salt intake was the dietary tradition of eating sauce, preserved vegetables, and cured meats. Furthermore, sodium intake was also influenced by the increasing consumption of restaurant and packaged foods.

    Towards a healthier eating environment

Facing those challenges, China has implemented various campaigns and promotions to raise public’s awareness of healthy eating, including establishing a national nutrition plan. Traditional concepts like Yin and Yang, "food and medicine are synonymous" are still widely believed by the majority of Chinese, but many Chinese are embracing modern dietary knowledge such as organic and sugar-free diets. In 2022, over 55,000 organic products were available to Chinese consumers, tripling from a decade ago. It is estimated that the naturally healthy food market in China will grow by 10 billion U.S. dollars between 2016 and 2021, outpacing the rest of the world by a wide margin.

It literally took two seconds to research this online, and I found many sources that contradict your claim, even by Western outlets.

I don’t give one solitary shit who you vote for, I was trying to understand the strategy I’ve heard advocated for in these forums.

If you don't give a shit, then why are you continuing to make a fuss about all of the answers people have given you in multiple different ways that explain our strategy? You obviously do give a shit, otherwise you wouldn't continue arguing instead of learning from our side for once. We're just going in circles. You say you read Marx, then I suggest you also read Lenin as well because I don't think anyone here is going to change your mind except yourself.

Voting against the two party system gives statistics on the dissatisfaction of the population. It shows people that people are fed up and don't want to continue participating in this fascist dictatorship. It's also not about who voted for who and the results of the election. The point is to take advantage of the time when most people pay attention to politics and educate them while we still have their attention. Do you not want PSL to do this? Should we just sit back and wait for the conditions that spark potential revolution that we would fail at because we didn't build the ship?

I met a bunch of people during petitioning and was able to help build awareness of our party as most people didn't know about us at all. We were out in the streets protesting and marching for Palestine. We made a commitment to being persistent in supporting our communities during multiple struggles. We built class consciousness by supporting the Black communities when people were murdered by the cops. We give a voice to Palestinian Americans that the DNC treats as subhuman.

I personally witnessed events started by my pre-branch having an attendance of a few people to many hundreds this year alone. We stopped various bills from passing in our state, which surprised us, and we put our state on the map. Project 2025 doesn't disappear by voting for Kopmala, it is stopped by us working together against the system and eventually overthrowing our bourgeois oppressors.

How the hell are we supposed to build a movement if we keep telling people to vote for the lesser of two evils? Do we not participate in elections? What are we gaining by so-called "buying time"? We're fucked by either party. They both operate for capitalists. It literally makes no difference. There's no time bought. The same policies are going to occur regardless of who's in office.

If PSL, FRSO, etc. were to tell everyone to vote Kamala, don't you think that will kill so much support for our movement? Then who is supposed to take the reigns of the new party? Wouldn't that force us to start all over again? And why would we want such a massive blunder to kill the momentum that our party has built for the past 20 years? Why give up on our values and submit to the bourgeoisie? Being a communist means not being tailist.

Should this forum of comrades just say we need to vote for the other Hitler? Doesn't that go against our values? What do you want from us?

What waste of energy? The 1 fucking minute it takes to fill out my ballot that they mail me? That’s the thing you are upset about?

You're also complaining on social media about people not wanting to vote for Kamala Hitleress. You're advocating for people to "vote the lesser of two evils", which is not really going to save us and conflicts with educating people about the illegitimacy of our obviously-not-democracy. Telling people to vote for the "lesser of two evils" while claiming to bring class consciousness by educating people on Marx is essentially expecting reformism to work, which it never has, and never will, especially in the belly of the beast, aka Amerikkka. This is why ML parties like the PSL are against telling their comrades to give up and vote for the DNC. It's antithetical for communists to do this and achieves nothing.

Voting for a third party candidate, and better yet, working with a ML party like PSL helps spread class consciousness, even by a little. Worrying about elections when one of two oppressor parties are going to win anyway is a waste of energy and could have been better spent building a movement for the long-term. If we don't build the ship by the time the material conditions in the future give opportunities for revolution, we will not succeed as the proletariat. Yes, it's extremely difficult to organize people in the most propagandized country of the world. That's why we need all of the help we can get. I believe delaying the collapse is the worse choice anyway as I don't believe people are going to be radicalized until their material conditions worsen greatly and quickly. People are too comfortable with the current fascist rule, and Project 2025 is already mostly implemented here despite the fear-mongering.

I recommend using Yandex to search for pirated content. DuckDuckGo basically uses Bing as a primary source, and mainstream Western search engines tend to shove paid streaming services and shopping links down your throat.

Using a metasearch engine like SearXNG is what I recommend for a main use search engine. I also like 4get. There's also Marginalia for text heavy websites and Wiby for a curated search engine for content-first sites.

It's a war between YouTube and privacy frontends, so I constantly switch between multiple apps on my phone and the web instances. Grayjay on Android has been the most reliable.

I'm happy the playlist helped you. One of my favorite commands I learned and wasn't familiar with is the mkfifo command. This command is really handy as I didn't know it was possible to save a pipe into memory without needing to make a temporary file.

Perhaps when revolution comes and we give the Indigenous people and Blacks self-determination, maybe they would prefer to be represented as several separate nations/states.

Nobody will be "giving" us anything, you just won't be able to tell us what to do anymore.

I apologize. That was poor wording. I agree with you.

Do the native peoples want to strive for Pan-Indianism? And if so, what does Pan-Indianism mean to the native peoples and what do they want (and/or not want) from being unified?

Unity is a tool, a means to an end. It is not an end in itself. This question is too abstract to provide meaningful discussion unless you are attempting solve a specific issue, like defending a resource from exploitation or extirpation.

Something like pan-Africanism can be spoken about more broadly because African states are mostly run by Africans themselves, unity would be a specific tool to prevent continued exploitation of the continent as a whole.

So I guess the question is why are we trying to build an identity around a unity practice that does not exist? Detached from practice it comes off incoherent, at best. AIMs symbolism is also subject to criticism from the masses AIM operated in, and its successors seek to operate in. Inform yourself with the masses, test, criticize, change, cycle.

This itself is an answer I was looking for, as I suspected my question was very abstract. I don't know much about Pan-Indianism and whether continental unity is desired among the Indigenous. I know that treaties need to be respected for once, and the Native Americans and Blacks deserve self-determination and reparations according to their desired form of payment. My interpretation would be that pan-Indianism, if and under the consensus of the Indigenous, would be used as a tool to stop overall exploitation and colonialism as with pan-Africanism, but I wasn't sure if this would the chosen tool by the Indigenous and if it was really coherently practiced and desired.

Are there any good resources regarding this topic so I can better inform myself? I was also considering looking for Indigenous communities to learn about their traditions.

Is the Medicine Wheel symbol a misappropriation of the Indigenous traditions in Turtle Island? lemmygrad.ml

I had posted this question today here: https://lemmygrad.ml/comment/4917359 >Also on [NATOpedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medicine_wheel_(symbol)#Criticism_of_the_medicine_wheel), there’s some criticism regarding misappropriation of the medicine wheel symbol by the non-Indigenous people. I wonder if anyone here is more well read on the topic to explain about the misappropriation and what a potential Indigenous flag of Turtle Island would like and how it would be better representative of the Native Americans, if it is even possible without distorting their traditions by combining them. > >Perhaps when revolution comes and ~~we give~~ the Indigenous people and Blacks *have* self-determination, maybe they would prefer to be represented as several separate nations/states. (Edited poor phrasing regarding self-determination) I am wondering if anyone here, especially if they are Indigenous in America, has more information regarding how the Medicine Wheel has been misappropriated by non-Indigenous and if there is a correct version to use or if using a symbol to represent all Indigenous people of North America is an act of erasure and oversimplification of multiple Indigenous cultures. Do the native peoples want to strive for Pan-Indianism? And if so, what does Pan-Indianism mean to the native peoples and what do they want (and/or not want) from being unified? I hope I made my questions clear. Please let me know if I should clarify anything.

It's a bit busy for a flag, but if there is a way to remove some of the detail, I would want to order a custom-made flag with a design similar to this.

Also I see the medicine wheel symbol has some white background not fully cut. It could use a little touch-up.

I also found this flag, but I like the use of the medicine wheel and the turtle above more.

Also on NATOpedia, there's some criticism regarding misappropriation of the medicine wheel symbol by the non-Indigenous people. I wonder if anyone here is more well read on the topic to explain about the misappropriation and what a potential Indigenous flag of Turtle Island would like and how it would be better representative of the Native Americans, if it is even possible without distorting their traditions by combining them.

Perhaps when revolution comes and the Indigenous people and Blacks have self-determination, maybe they would prefer to be represented as several separate nations/states.

There's also this flag from the American Indian Movement:

ugly child-less single trans lesbian women

    The beautiful woman

I'm not sure why, but I find the women on the left more attractive than on the right. Perhaps because I may be a sapiophile and I find kind and communist people more attractive. I find liberal, capitalist, hypocritical, snobby, closed-minded, etc. traits in people to be a turn-off, no matter how well their appearances are. I don't mean to judgy of the appearance of the woman on the right, though. I think they looks fine, but I like seeing women who are independent, defy stereotypes, and work in technical and scientific fields.

It also hurts my heart to see mothers to have to struggle hundredfold in capitalist societies.

the working class has no nation

Ahem...we have a few AES nations. Just because you live in occupied Turtle Island, the occupied Global South, or some other fascist Western nation doesn't mean the revolutionary proletariat has no socialist nation to support.

I wasn't mentioning the apartment cost to compare to the house cost, but to mention my house needs given my circumstances and how my relatively low cost apartment plays a factor into my decision to save more for a house first.

Obviously, my landlord benefits from my rent as well as many other people's greatly. Same as it would for a bank. I have no disagreements with you for the rest of your comment.

In fact, I agreed with your previous comment, too, and I was just highlighting different scenarios to show much over 10 year loans can be very costly. I was trying to demonstrate how the interest rate in combination with the long length of time and high principals make it difficult to avoid the massive interest loss unless every cost cutting tactic is combined. This was to show how saving more for a larger down payment, using a short term loan, and waiting for interest rates to massively decline are all essential to make it possible to own a home. Saving right now is critical.

To clarify, the point was about how my circumstances enable me to save more if I reduce my expenses, and if I were to attempt to save and purchase a home quickly with a low down payment and a 30 year loan with the current insane rates, I would be losing a lot of money. This doesn't even include inflation and the costs of utilities and expensive home repairs and maintenance, which on top of the astronomical monthly bills makes owning a home not financially feasible for me.

If I were to save longer, inflation would cut out how much I save on interest compared to how much I pay in interest if I paid for a home sooner. Thus there's probably a middle ground that would be optimal for me to jump into the housing market when saving any longer would make me pay more for inflated home prices.

I picked a 5 bedroom home because, oddly, a similar existing home was actually cheaper than some 4 bedroom or less homes around, which cost $400K+ for some reason. I could probably make do with 3-4 bedroom home.

One issue I face is that homes I see online are dwindling, so I risk waiting for a home too long before my opportunity is lost, but having a home and still paying high monthly bills could put me in a precarious situation as the US economy worsens. Plus I would have to trust I could keep a job in the long term as in this job market there's nearly 0 tech jobs available besides senior and manager positions, and any jobs I have applied and interviewed for for the past few years I have not been hired for.

Getting a home sucks, homeowners and aspiring homeowners are screwed over by the banks and capitalist society in general in so many ways, and this is essentially my entire point. Workers need to seize the banking and real estate sectors if we want to see any meaningfully beneficial change.

So I did the math on an example 5 bedroom, 2 bath house of $300K (I picked this because I would need a larger home for my disabled mother and my half-brother to move in with me and my spouse), and let's say the property taxes are $400/month, home insurance is $75/month, the down payment is 20% ($60K), and interest rate on a 30 year loan is 6.5%. Principal and interest would be $1,517/month according to trulia.

    1517 + 400 + 75 = 1,992

    (1,992 * 12 * 30) + 60,000 = $777,120 total cost including property taxes and home insurance.

Let's try 10 years, and let's give it an interest rate of 5.5%. Principal and interest would be $2,605/month.

    2,605 + 400 + 75 = 3080

    (3080 * 12 * 10) + 60,000 = $429,600 total cost including property taxes and home insurance.

Let's instead do a 50% down payment ($150K) on a 30 year loan and a 6.5% interest rate. Principal and interest would be $948/month.

    948 + 400 + 75 = 1,423

    (1,423 * 12 * 30) + 150,000 = $662,280 total cost including property taxes and home insurance.

Let's try a 10 year loan and a 5.5% interest rate this time. Principal and interest would be $1,628/month.

    1,628 + 400 + 75 = 2,103

    (2,103 * 12 * 10) + 150,000 = $402,360 total cost including property taxes and home insurance.

Let's try the 50% down payment with each but this time with a 2% interest rate. On a 30 year loan, principal and interest would be $554/month.

    554 + 400 + 75 = 1,029

    (1,029 * 12 * 30) + 150,000 = $520,440 total cost including property taxes and home insurance.

Now let's try with a 10 year loan. Principal and interest would be $1,380/month.

    1,380 + 400 + 75 = 1,855

    (1,855 * 12 * 10) + 150,000 = $372,600 total cost including property taxes and home insurance.

Even in the last example, I would consider the additional $72,600 ($15,600 from interest alone) to be pretty high but manageable (to my standards), and this requires being able to afford the enormous monthly cost. I believe the combination of the high principal with the long length of time is the biggest factor in the exorbitant cost in paying interest for the home. Most homeowners don't earn enough tax deductions to go beyond the standard deduction.

I am very lucky to pay for an 2 bedroom apartment that costs $625/month, rent increase was only $25 every two years, garage is included, and utilities are included except electricity. I have access to great internet from a cooperative. I have been able to get away with having birds as pets with no pet deposits or rent increases (not pet-friendly apartment but received permission from landlord as long as no one complains about the noise). I have been able to screw things in the walls without complaints, and we were allowed to have a garden out in the lawn. I could make do with what I have. If I save for a few years (by reducing my expenses as much as possible), go to college, and earn more to save more, my spouse and I could just save for a home in full without losing so much from interest.

Plus considering dedollarization and the US's economy potentially collapsing due to politicians' idiotic policies in the next few or so years, I would rather not be in debt and paying such a high cost for a home per month and struggling because food, gas, household essentials, etc. astronomically increase in price.

The homes that are much cheaper in price and have lower property taxes tend to be in the middle of nowhere with no access to decent paying jobs or even decent internet speeds. Even fixer-uppers and land near better jobs are stupid expensive.

Since China has moved to replace government computers and servers with Loongson and Phytium chips, isn't it beneficial for the chips to be proprietary for protectionist reasons as well as limiting access of the tech's source and schematics to imperialist adversaries (iirc)?

    I found out I have ADHD. yewtu.be

cross-posted from: https://hexbear.net/post/2680566 > As an AuDHD person, the college dropout story is relatable to me, except for the YouTube career success. I grew up in a madhouse during my traumatic childhood, and going to college free from my backwards, overprotective, overly strict parents was essentially like falling off a cliff. I was already burnt out during my last year of high school, and I was too excited with the freedom and ended up wasting time playing video games and skipping classes regularly because I had little energy to function as an adult. I still struggle with burnout to this day due to being an overworked IT contractor for years.
