My main complaints with the game that I'd like to see fixed would probably be beyond the scope of the term "remaster". The facial animations during dialogue were pretty uncanny in the base game, but they're good in the DLC and sequel.

To me this feels like perfectly within the scope of what should be the realm of "remaster", it's just that history teaches us to expect less.

I haven't personally been a victim to this, but I think it's good for the health of the game overall. Curious to hear what aspiring pros/high rank players think of it. It certainly created a unique meta and required some skilled execution to pull off, but it also would lead to insanely snowbally games with the proficient team sometimes tripling the other team in net worth.

He is one of the most extreme narcissists known to the history of man. I do think they'll survive in the end, though, buy we'll see. They don't have the advantage of three other astronomically poor teams in the bottom this season, unlike last time.

I think Valve is completely hands-off when it comes to pro Dota now. They single-handedly organised the first five Internationals, after which they slowly and gradually started offloading more and more responsibilities onto PGL. That's why it's been a slow process, TI6 for example (considered by many the best TI of all time) was still mostly a Valve event.

Dota 2 probably isn't high on the list of their profit sources but I hope they'll still give a moderate amount of care to it.

I don't think profitability is a major factor, to be honest. Valve gets enough money from Steam to do whatever they want, and they've demonstrated many times over that they're not primarily motivated by making money when it comes down to what projects they choose to undertake - or not undertake, for that matter.

I think they used to be really passionate about Dota, and that passion is just not there to the same extent anymore. Valve employees are allowed to do pretty much whatever they want, and over the years I assume the amount of people who want to be involved with Pro Dota has dwindled.

There still seem to be enough people around that still care about the game itself, at least. It's still getting updates and new content, so there's that.

I'm happy Liquid won, I think the old HoN trio deserve it, I think Nisha really deserves it and 33 is of course a great player too. I'm glad the Liquid redemption story vs GG gave us at least one memorable story and moment from this TI, which otherwise has felt fairly bland.

I've touched on it before but TI losing its magic is very sad to me. It's been in decline for a few years already, but it's more obvious now than it ever has been that Valve's investment in Dota is just not what it once was. This was the first TI Valve was fully hands-off with - from now on its 100% a PGL product and I think it shows.

I miss True Sight, it's one of the best things related to TI. I miss seeing more of the games in front of a crowd (they even seemed to filter out the crowd noise?). I miss the Lategame with Pyrion Flax aftershow. I miss player profiles and video archive snippets (patience from Zhou!). I miss the All-Star games, despite them being goofy and sometimes terrible.

TI is just another LAN event now, and that's such a shame when you think about the heights of what it once was.

I was rooting like crazy for Tundra as it would have been so nice for me to have two teams I like in the final and I could just relax and not care about who wins. And it would have been nice to have a break from Liquid vs GG. And you have to give it to Tundra, they did really well to almost salvage that third game. Very impressive display by Pure again, as well as the supports clutching save after save.

GG played well though, they're good and they have been for a few years now. Can't take anything away from them, I just wish they were more likeable. Much like Falcons I respect their skill but have a hard time rooting for them.

I still think they will win it as Liquid choking in a final against GG is such a tradition I think the psychological factor will be huge here.

It may be the case that it wasn't sustainable, but I doubt money is the factor. I think Valve is just less invested in Dota these days. Regardless of what is the reason, I miss TI feeling more special. I'm the opposite of you I guess, I miss TI being a huge festival of Dota. I miss the huge installations around KeyArena and Kaci talking to people around the Secret Shop. I miss the shots of people watching the huge screens outside on the grass enjoying a festival atmosphere. I miss the goofy All-Star matches.

TI just feels like any other big LAN event nowadays, which is a shame.

I think each lane will have its own visual identity once the game is closer to release so you'll always know where you are without having to check the minimap, but that still doesn't necessarily solve the need for color coding.

Each lane actually already has a name starting with the same letter as it's colour: York (Yellow), Greenwich (Green), Broadway (Blue) and Park (Purple). It's just that nobody uses them. Maybe with stronger visual theming people will, and the issue will be alleviated.

I do think each lane being grey wouldn't be great, so maybe make it black/dark when empty and white when player is nearby?

I don't think the solution to help color inhibited people should be to remove all colours, it should be to see if there are ways to help them navigate too.

Falcons are out, which makes me happy, but overall this was a fairly disappointing penultimate day of TI. I wish we had more even back and forth matches instead of straight 2-0s. Liquid continue to impress with Nisha playing out of his mind, they have to be favourites at this point. You can never count out GG though - especially in a final against Liquid - so I'm hoping it will be Tundra taking the second spot tomorrow instead .They've looked really good today and Topson pulling out Diffusal Sniper was an instant classic. Also blows my mind that Saksa isn't on any team right now, winning TI as a stand-in would be quite something. Wonder where he ends up.

I also feel like the production is a little... bland? Maybe they're saving everything for tomorrow, but the crowd and arena and action in between games has felt lackluster compared to the halcyon days of KeyArena TIs in Seattle. I miss stuff like The International Archive, Remember When or even the superb Support Support. And matching the energy of the crowd in, outside of and around the arena in Seattle is a tough ask, I suppose. But I miss the amount of signs and costumes and Kaci doing the rounds.

I hope there's at least something in the cards for tomorrow.

Out of every 10 games I play, maybe one of them is a close, even game where everyone is on roughly the same skill level - and that's probably me being generous. Almost every game has people on either team not just losing their lane but going something like 0-17. First, said veteran Democratic numbers man Geoff Garin, summarizing their analysis, stop saying, “We’re not going back.” It wasn’t focused enough on the future, he argued. Second, lay off all the “weird” talk — too negative. Yes, stop using the two approaches that has been most effective. Absolute genius. I can't for the life of me see why the Dems have a reputation of shooting themselves in the foot. Let's see if this community still is active. I'm not sure if it's officially agreed upon, but I would say the release of Doom in '93 properly marked the *beginning* of a golden age of PC gaming. Modern homogenisation and monetisation hadn't set in yet and over the next decade or so the PC gaming landscape would be full of innovation and passion, with a sea of classics being released in that time frame... but when did it end? Was there a specific watershed game that signalled a shift in the landscape? This topic has been on my mind for a while, because I've pondered on whether there is an open niche for a community dedicated to games of this era. They're not quite at home in Retro Gaming subs, but still old enough now that they might warrant their own corner separate from main gaming spaces.

Saudi Arabia unveils AI renders of their plans for the Qiddiya track www.motorsport.com

You would expect Saudi to go all out and not let themselves be outdone on spectacle by Miami and Vegas, but this is more than even I expected. That turn one is straight out of Mario Kart.

Summarizing the Crossover Weekly in a single team as a sendoff

I liked the idea of this weekly a lot, but the balance was off and the Strawberry strategy was way too dominant. And the lack of Waffles and/or Flying Squirrel made Toy strategies extremely frustrating. I didn't have that much fun this week and am glad to see it go, to be honest.

Sweden advances to the quarterfinals after beating USA on penalties with the slimmest possible margin

That was one of the craziest penalty shootouts I've ever seen. Heartbreaking for USA.

[Suggestion] Setting to show comment with context when clicking on an entry in inbox/comment history

I will often have to spend an extra tap to show parent/context since I want to remind myself before replying. It would be a nice quality of life setting to be able to show them by default.

Using all three mechanics for the Crossover weekly

While strawberry seems the easiest path to victory, it was fun to see if I could squeeze all three into a team. Sadly I never got a third Strawberry in the shop.

Finally got the Sloth ribbon, thank you for the assist Skoottie

Framework laid out by Skoottie and works surprisingly consistently. Amass Hedgehogs early to get a bunch of draws, hard roll for Lioness as early as possible (use Stoat, Alpaca and lvl 2 Blobfish+Pill to get it leveled ASAP). When your shop is 50/50 you set up Catfish+Anglerfish and freeze waffles in the shop. When you have your level 3 sloth, use Cuttlefish and/or Goose to break the 50/50 team deadlock and win.

For those who have played both the originals and the Early Access, how well does BG3 capture the feel?

I'm not particularly worried about whether BG3 will be *good* or not since D:OS 1&2 were both excellent, but I'm a little worried about it feeling like a Baldur's Gate game and not Divinity: Dungeons and Dragons. How is the writing style and atmosphere? Does the story connect in any meaningful way? Are there any recurring major characters, hopefully even potential party members? In short, does it feel like a Baldur's Gate game?
