Note, this is not the same developer that made Mad Tower Tycoon and Mad Games Tycoon (both excellent games). Superficially, this does not look as well developed as Eggcode's now classic titles.

IMO, the cost of the DLC is low enough that's it's worth getting for a new run of Turmoil.
Agent_Karyo 6 days ago • 100%
Haven't tried the DLC, but I can strongly recommend the base game. This is what good gameplay should be like.

Just noticed that. 😆

Except that the Arena Commander trademark doesn't reference the term MMO. Soulsinger does. Neither of them reference karaoke.
If it's a mini-game, why add the term MMO to the description?
Not saying Soulsinger is in development (or even will be), but also I see no reason to deny verifiable facts.

I have 200 hours and all achievements in Planetbase. 😀 Mods and DLC would be awesome.
Agent_Karyo 1 week ago • 100%
A trademark by itself doesn't mean a game is being (or will be) developed.
However, the coding of the Soulsinger trademark is very explicit.
Downloadable computer games software; downloadable video game software - Entertainment provided via the Internet, namely, providing online massively multi-player video games; on-line entertainment services in the nature of online computer game tournaments; providing on-line information in the field of computer gaming entertainment; Entertainment services, namely, ongoing multimedia programs about a computer game featuring a fictional universe, accessible by web-based applications, mobile phone applications, and computer networks
Soulsinger was trademarked as an MMO.

I am surprised they never released a DLC.
SteamDB has Planetbase at around ~250 CCUs; not too bad for an indie game almost decade after release.
It's a relatively simple formula, but there is enough to build and develop and a big map selection to make each run somewhat unique.

I haven't played it, but based on the screenshots, this is hardly worse than your typical "modern military shooter".

It was the last game I pre-ordered and I think the last EA game I bought (outside of some retro titles).
I don't really get hyped for games, Simcity 2012 was an exception. And then I played and it was clear they were deceptive in their marketing and management had no clue what they were dealing with.
Agent_Karyo 2 weeks ago • 100%
Yeah, that's Simcity 2000. On some level, both Simcity 3000 and Simcity 4 were an evolution of Simcity 2000.
Agent_Karyo 2 weeks ago • 100%
The graphics from Simcity 4 (even Simcity 3000) hold up very well today.
I think it's the mixture of a high quality creative direction and immense detail.

FWIW, it seems better than most first person UE5 "retail property X simulator" games that are so common today.

Short, lofi, set in a limited space.

The tycoon/economic strategy scene is relatively small, so I think it's worth supporting indie developers.
With early access, I do agree that it's a personal choice. I can see why some people would always avoid early access.

I wonder if he is trying to target younger and more casual gamers; people who don't know that he is a liar and a scammer.

And they cheated the winner of the Curiosity game.
Agent_Karyo 3 weeks ago • 100%
He created a literal scam game; Legacy. They had an NFT land ruse where you could buy high value land for your in-game business.
When the game released no one played it and the "NFT land" turned out to be worthless (Molyneux did get to keep the money though).
Agent_Karyo 3 weeks ago • 100%
I was trying to be diplomatic. :) I want to support indie developers.
Indeed, lofi is more of style or an aesthetic and it can most definitely look better than high polygon realistic graphics.
Agent_Karyo 3 weeks ago • 100%
Customisation is hardly the biggest problem with Molyneux; I mean he literally developed a scam game, Legacy with its NFT land scheme.
Agent_Karyo 3 weeks ago • 100%
I am not trusting Molyneux! Concept sounds interesting, but meres ideas aren't worth anything.

Poor VTMB2 is cursed.
Not to mention it will difficult for it compete with the sheer uniqueness of the original VTMB for its time.

I love the visuals and style of Townscaper, but I just can't get into pure sandboxes. Got to have some sort of gameplay mechanic to drive the structure of your sandbox cities/towns.
Agent_Karyo 4 weeks ago • 100%
Curious how well this works with some open source projects that have separate implementationa for Nvidia and AMD/Intel GPUs.
Although it sounds like the devs would have to be aware of AdaptiveCpp.

Yes, this is referring to in-game gameplay/lore.

Indeed. It does looks decent if you are looking for something more relaxed, but still with some depth.
Graphics and art are nice too.

I actually like these sort of boxes graphics, another game that has them is Cloudpunk; for reason I feel like the voxel graphics fit the world.

Hopefully, they will patch in signaling and more granular control at some point in the future.

Yeah, it was a fun train logistics game that offered some challenge but without insane complexity (and I say this as someone who play Transport Fever 1/2).

Your description of the vibes are spot on.
It really is SimTower/Project Highrise/Mad Tower Tycoon but in a sci-fi colony builder setting.
You can also build insane skyscraper designs with giant aquariums, natural habit zones, hippie sanctuary zones and much more.
It's a very fun game. Can be challenging in the initial playthroughs, although subsequent ones tend to be easier once you figure out the management aspect.
Do check it out, I don't think you will be disappointed.
Agent_Karyo 1 month ago • 100%
I can strongly recommend this game. The graphics are somewhat simple, but it provides you with a lot of freedom in building beautiful skyscraper cities on flying islands while still having at least somewhat challenging gameplay.
