Help with reading theory

I have ADHD and am not currently taking medication because my job as a carpenter's apprentice keeps me stimulated enough to get me through the day. However, when I have free time and try to read some theory, I am unable to focus or find the motivation to do so. Therefore, any method that can make reading even slightly more enjoyable is a real benefit.

Since I began my Marxist journey, I have mostly consumed theory via marxist.org and audiobooks from Socialism for All. I appreciate the ease of access with digital libraries, but it does make me more prone to my tangent style of learning, which I believe is unproductive. Although I like the tactile feel of books and the opportunity to take notes and highlight I don't really want to buy books when I don't have to.

Does anyone here have a similar problem or information about E-reader devices and whether they can facilitate more study-like reading with highlighting, note-taking, easy page switching, footnote links Etc?
