What are the benefits and or downsides of rooting my phone when I don't have another OS to install on it?

I followed @TheAnonymouseJoker@lemmy.ml's rootless android privacy guide. It's been good so far, but I'm considering rooting my phone so I can do more with it. However, there aren't any OSes like lineage or calyx that work with my phone (oneplus 11). Are there any risks or benefits I need to consider when deciding if rooting my phone is a good decision?
