Chaos Worrier: Khorne www.youtube.com

A 2 hour long video on the themes of Khorne and Chaos as false consciousness opposed to revolutionary violence? Yes, I think I _will_ watch this while eating leftover pizza for breakfast.

Razzle Dazzle

Slowly working my way through a _BUNCH_ of vehicles and finally decided to bite the bullet and do the camo. Still a lot of work to go, but this is a huge jump in terms of _looking_ done. Masking tape took 8x longer to put on than actually painting did. As someone new to an airbrush, I must say that it's definitely faster and smoother than using a brush, but I really need to improve my aim. There's some nasty overspray in various places which is going to have to be touched up by hand, but I'm generally very happy with this.

The commissars don’t want you to know this but the guardsmen at Tartarus are free! You can just take them into the chapter. I have an entire 10th company of ~~stolen~~ guardsmen.

Played a Game of One Page Rules

And had a pretty good time! Definitely seemed shorter than our games of 40k at around 2.5 hours, even though it was our first game. Tried using 9e Tempest of War missions which was probably a mistake as most of them don't make sense with alternating activations lol (and my opponent was guaranteed victory when he drew Raise Banner, Secure No Man's Land, and Tempting Target _all on the same turn_). Most of the proxies made sense, though there's the odd weirdness like primaris units having 2+ saves but still only one wound. Other thoughts: Tanks felt super tough but otherwise weak unless you spend tons of points on upgrading the main guns, which was disappointing. 2k points definitely felt low. Psykers were more complex but pretty fun. The decision of whether to activate what you wanted or something that would probably die if you didn't activate it _right now_ really added some extra pressure that I enjoyed. RIP my Manticore that died first activation to a Scouted ATV with a Deadly (6) multimelta. Final Score: Imperial Guard 65 - Space Marines 78

So I gave Infinity a shot

I played my first two games of Infinity today with a friend who is really into the game. The game is fun but the lore seems to be dogshit. Like worse than 40k in some aspects. Given I only heard about if from my friend but from their explanation the factions seem to be weird. Apparently one of the factions consists of a bunch of Cryptobros and Ancaps in space and has a subfraction named Bakunin. The China inspired faction is presented as the rival to the main power in the universe because they believe they should be the rulers of everything instead. I guess Haqqislam is pretty cool though so there is that at least. Edit: Also just learned that Haqqislam has a unit called "Hakims" ... and they are doctors. What are your thoughts on the game?

Just finished reading "Cadian Honour"

Ending was pretty selfaware: "He [General Bendikt of Cadian 101th] paused on the lip of the portal for one last look at Potence. The rebellion had been crushed, the Scourged had been thrown back and most importantly, Cadian honour had been restored. Some might call Potence a wasteland. But to the military minds of the Astra Militarum, this was peace." Note: Potence is basically an agri world with one city (and it wasn't even a hive city) being quiet residence of sector-ruling noble house so disgustingly rich they are even named "Richstar". And the "wasteland" is unusual for 40k exaggeration, capital got devastated and millions died but rest of planet was implied to be not touched by fights.

Actually Played a Game of 40k (Not Clickbait!)

My Guard vs buddy's AdMech, still playing 9th because 10th fucked both our factions, doing Tempest because fixed objectives suck. Also only 1k points. I brought a bit of a meme list because my guard have been undefeated in our play group (vanquisher russ w/ the reroll tank ace, deathstrike, ogryn instead of bullgryn, triple scout sentinels in a single unit with plasma cannons that I intended to charge with). The weird thing is that this _objectively worse_ version of my list costs more points, thank you James Workshop. Highlights: - A deathstrike doing literally nothing all game because it's so easy to avoid (I _could_ have taken the lame missiles but it's godslayer or nothing) - The Vanquisher Russ needing to command reroll 2 wound rolls to do anything (though it did one-shot an onager and kill two breachers) - The Datasmith just charging a plasma Russ and living the rest of his days in melee because I had nothing to charge him with and nothing with good enough shooting to justify falling back - 3 sentinels living in melee with a tech priest all game while holding his deployment objective - Only living models at end of game: deathstrike, 2 tech priests, 3 skitarii rangers Final Score: Guard 67-AdMech 37

Question about Stormcast Chambers

I'm painting a Stormcast army in an original color scheme, and I know so little about their organization. Do I need to invent a whole Stormhost for them, or can individual Chambers/Conclaves of a Stormhost have their own unique names, color schemes, etc.? I'm more familiar with 40K Astartes structures, or Chaos warbands. The military structure of the Stormcast sort of confuses me. I imagine Stormhosts are more like Astartes Legions, with individual Chambers varying in color schemes and character like the Astartes Chapters. Since AoS is very open to making your army your own. I thought I saw something about a Chamber from one of the big Stormhosts that took on the symbols and colors of one of the Cities of Sigmar. I'd like to tie my Stormcast to my (hopefully) future Cities of Sigmar army, thematically and lorewise.

It's that time of year again on the Newsfeed Imperialis

This could be the most consequential Conclave of the Spire Electorate of our lives. Sure, Lord Korpulend has emptied our treasuries of credits to finance the grinding Conquest of Ukroyska, where despite untold tens of billions of deaths victory remains elusive. Sure, he ordered the crushing of the uprising of the cargo-hauler indentured, followed weeks later by the chemical contamination of the East Palestryan Aquafer. Sure, the piteous mass of humanity sheltered within the hives on the habitable hemisphere of our world starve and perish of disease and overwork, as the choking smog of the manufactoria blackens the atmosphere and smothers what little life remains in the ashen wastes. And sure, Lord Korpulend's rejuvenat treatments are rumored to be failing, and his courtiers whisper that his eyes bleed as he rants ever more madly with every nightfall. But we as leftists must ask ourselves: can we really stomach another Imperial Governorship by Lord Orendgemann?

BattleTech - Lyran Guards

Last of the repaint 'Mechs I have so far, it's the Lyran Guards from the Lyran Commonwealth. A pretty popular color scheme and I can see why. The cyan and white really *pop*. The Lyran Commonwealth is a German-coded faction with a heavy emphasis on mercantilism, to the point where their military suffers from "social officers" - officers who merely buy their ranks and positions, rather than based on their quality. At one point, the Lyran Commonwealth joins up with the Federated Suns to form the Federated Commonwealth, becoming the dominant power for awhile. War and internal divisions inevitably lead to them breaking apart, though. I'm really happy with how these turned out, though. Very crisp. Some of my best work with any minis.

BattleTech - Free Worlds Guard

Second lance I repainted in canon colors: the Free Worlds Guards of the Free Worlds League. I went with which color schemes I liked best, not the best names. The Free Worlds League is really more of a loose confederation of various duchies and individual worlds that united for mutual defense. They are, canonically, paralyzed by this lack of centralized leadership, with the various near-sovereign political bodies constantly bickering and countermanding each other. The only time the FWL can effectively unite is when House Marik, one of the setting's five Great Houses, takes over and forms a military junta. They're the most ethnically/religiously diverse of the Successor States, and are genuinely depicted as rather benign. Still ruled by nobility, and its constituent states range in practices and freedoms of its worlds. Honestly know the least about this Great House/Successor State, and very little about this military unit. I just liked the color scheme.

BattleTech - Death Commandos

Not Warhammer, but I'm hoping the community doesn't care. I didn't want to post to Lemmyworld, because BattleTech community is - like the Warhammer community - plagued with fans that can't see the issues with the franchise. These are Death Commandos, an elite military unit that are loyal to the Chancellor of the Capellan Confederation. They are canonically very skilled and ruthless pilots, able to conduct secret missions and leave no survivors, be it as infantry or as MechWarriors. I could (and probably will) make a post about everything I find wrong about the Capellan Confederation in due time, but to summarize: imagine if you combined every negative trait about Nazi Germany (but dial the racism back from "master race and genocide" to "our culture is dominant and people should look and act like us"), the military incompetence of fascist Italy, and the underhanded deception and sinister machinations of the US and UK (particularly the overreliance on deception, proxy wars, war crime-grade weapons, and subterfuge). Now, imagine if you coded the entire faction as Han Chinese/Russian. To top it all off, the leaders are genetically disposed to being insane, and incestuous, and they have a rigid caste system and a violent, evil Thugee cult (the cult the British made up to help justify brutalizing India; it's real in this setting, and members of the Capellan leadership follow it). And they call themselves socialist because centralized economy. I could write a thesis paper about the Capellan Confederation and what it says about the creators, and the fanbase, but I'll save more ranting for another post. Suffice it to say, it's the biggest hurdle for leftists to enjoy the setting, and given the general libertarian bent of the fandom, that's not surprising. Would love it if more comrades could like it, too. Just like Warhammer: why should rightoids get all the fun?

Sigliberalism is dead, it's time to restart Sigmarxism

*They shall be our finest warriors, these men who give of themselves to the cause of proletariat. Like clay we shall mould them, and in the furnace of class war forge them. They will be of iron will and steely muscle. In great tank armour shall we clad them and with the mightiest guns will they be armed. They will be untouched by plague or disease of liberalism, no sickness of capitalism will blight them. They will have tactics, strategies and machines so that no foe can best them in battle. They are our bulwark against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Humanity. They are our Red Army and they shall know no fear.* I didn't even had to change this quote very much
