Recommended sites for files?

I have used a 3D printer for a while and just picked up a small laser. I was curious if people had a go to site for premade files to cut, like thangs but for laser cutting?

Why isn't there any white laser markings ink/powder/paste/spray?

I recently purchased my first laser. I'm interested in adding color to my engravings. Specifically I want white text engraved on black metal. However I've searched online and can't find any white marking materials.

UPS for 120W CO2 laser engraver

I've been trying to figure out the peak power demands and an uninterruptible power supply that can handle it. There doesn’t seem to be any documentation for this. It just needs to run long enough to power off safely. It's a Trotec speedy 360. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Edit 360 not 400 and it's an 80W laser Solved!

Help me to understand "focus"

I am playing with a laser cutting/engraving machine. There is a small wedge with the machine, with 3 widths, each width having a text on it : - cutting 7mm wood (close to the surface) - cutting 5mm wood - engraving and cutting 3mm wood (far from the surface) It allows you to set the height of the laser. I try to understand what would be the best setting to engrave rock. I understand that to etch on wood, you want a large laser to burn it instead of vaporizing it. There are even toturials on defocussing the laser to get better blacks (larger laser, more burning, less vaporizing). Random example : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xcg1y2cQl-o Now, I want to engrave rock. I don't want a larger laser. I want the hotter tinniest spot on the surface of the rock. I start to get great results on black rock (1000mm/s, 10W, 3 passes). To get the more focused spot, should I go with the setting close to the surface "cutting 7mm wood" or with the seeing far from the surface "engraving and cutting 3mm wood" ? Has any of you tried to engrave rock ? Do you have tips ?

Recommended laser cutters for beginners on a budget?

New from Kbin. I’ve been using my Ender 3 V2 3d printer for a while but would love something that could cut foam, paper, and wood, as well as burning designs. Are there machines that can do this for cheap?

Some laser cut tokens for D&D, inspired by Sly Flourish

I'm just starting to DM and I liked this idea of a set of generic tokens that can represent any monsters you don't have minis for. I also made one for each character class. For a campaign I'll probably use my resin printer, but tokens like this will be great for one shots or whenever I don't have tons of time to prep. I'm super happy with how these turned out. [Help] Small details

I have a drawing with small details like hairs. I try to etch it on cork. I use LaserGRBL, with speed 2000mm/min, and 0.75W of power. If I use the "Line To Line" option, the hairs are too small, and individual lines will not be drawn. If I use the "Vectorize" option : - without "Adaptive quality", the small details are removed. - with "Adaptative quality", the small details are finaly there ! But ... the laser try to draw the *edges* of each hair, burning each hair twice. The result is a big burnt blob instead of individual fine lines. Do you know how to solve this issue ? Is there a tool to approximate fine details with unique strokes ? Is this possible in Inkscape for example ? Thanks a lot.

I had a gap in the wall from where an old monitor mount used to be attached so wanted to make something to cover it up. The LEDs are controlled by an ESP8622 running WLED, monitor data from the PC comes from Hyperion software. It can be set to a constant color, dozens of set themes, or match the color output of whatever is on my monitor. ![](https://i.imgur.com/PIHhLAo.jpeg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/Cq4x1vS.jpeg) The microcontroller sits under the desk and receives constant power, it is the wired to a button on my desk to turn on/off power to the LEDs. ![](https://i.imgur.com/9fJhCVx.jpeg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/ssP1BJF.jpeg) Laser cutter action: ![](https://i.imgur.com/vMqUM0Q.jpeg) I tried to give it an aged rock/stone appearance using some textured spray paint which actually turned out pretty well. I think some of that doesn't come across well in the photos, but in person it looks good (to me anyway). LEDs changing color https://imgur.com/a/8CmepDk How to get WLED running: https://tynick.com/blog/11-03-2019/getting-started-with-wled-on-esp8266/ More info about Hyperion https://docs.hyperion-project.org/en/user/leddevices/

[Project] Slate Coasters and Caddy https://lemm.ee/pictrs/image/741574e7-b892-4d34-9979-91b17c8f84ac.webp

I have a family member that is big into Weber charcoal grills, and each year he and all the other grilling enthusiasts from around the country get together for their annual meet up. To commerate his last meet up I made him a set of slate coasters featuring Topper, the original logo for Weber grills. Blank slate coasters purchased off Amazon. I think they come out to about $1 per coaster. The process is pretty simple. I put masking tape down on the bed of the laser then lightly etch a a few circles so that I can quickly center the blank coasters in my machine for batch etching. You will notice some are darker than others, that is because I spray a light coat of poly which makes the etching pop. The darker ones already have been sprayed. ![](https://i.imgur.com/vrBW9Pt.jpeg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/n6tjJmA.jpeg) I also made a caddy to hold the coasters ![](https://i.imgur.com/zFJnBBv.jpeg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/2d6vNIy.jpeg)

I had bought a big box of bulk Pokemon cards off of eBay and had been giving the kids a few each time they did their chores or as positive reinforcement when the did something good. I wanted to find a way to make it more fun so came up with this prize wheel. Instead of just giving them two cards from the pile they get to spin the wheel and the corresponding prize. Usually just let's them look at a few cards and pick the one they want vs random getting one. There were some "rare" cards too which they had a chance to win. ![](https://i.imgur.com/3oLjDw4.jpeg)

For people wondering what you get when you order a $350 laser cutter off eBay. I purchased this 2 years ago and have had no issues. All of my project posts are using this machine, although I have upgraded/modded the machine since purchase Here was the original posting, doesn't look like this sellar is around anymore ![](https://i.imgur.com/Kav0s20.png) Shipped from a warehouse in California so I didn't have to do any import stuff ![](https://i.imgur.com/sCgbD9b.jpeg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/UQc7Hqv.jpeg) Double boxed with unformed styrofoam ![](https://i.imgur.com/paoJlz2.jpeg) Inside stuffed with the "accessories" which were mostly tossed in the garbage, and some loose foam. ![](https://i.imgur.com/Wx8TWeU.jpeg) Cutting bed and fume extractor both of which I would later remove as part of the modifications ![](https://i.imgur.com/LpHjEEo.jpeg) They had the water cooling tubes routing out through the exhaust fan for shipping, easy process of rerouting them during the initial setup ![](https://i.imgur.com/z2vDTjW.jpeg) Lots of info online about ensuring proper grounding with these. I followed the guides around sanding off the paint to ensure good contact with the metal from the case. I think this is probably the only https://i.imgur.com/psS1TY8.jpeg I did before the first cut ![](https://i.imgur.com/YZaZ0Q3.jpeg) ![](https://i.imgur.com/y5BtTBE.jpeg) This splice on the high voltage line seemed pretty ghetto to me, but the internet "experts" on the K40 forums assured me this was fine/normal. ![](https://i.imgur.com/jTEo4oY.jpeg) Stock fume extractor fan and water cooling tubes. I added a water movement indicator and removed the fan and added a inline exhaust as part of later mods. ![](https://i.imgur.com/LTzqmnn.jpeg) Mirrors were hot glued in place, but actually alignment was perfect right out of the box for me and this thing cut without issue on the first try. Over the years of mods and banging it around I have removed the glue and fine tuned but the tube and mirrors have held up well. ![](https://i.imgur.com/ujl68aU.jpeg) Here it is today in all it's glory. I will do other posts on the upgrades later down the road. ![](https://i.imgur.com/psS1TY8.jpeg)
