D23 is a biannual event where Disney reveals their plans for parks, media, and other entertainment. D23 2024 took place this past weekend, and there were a lot of big announcements. In an effort to draw contrast with previous D23 events which included some highly speculative plans, Disney Experiences Chairmen Josh D'Amaro prefaced the Imagineering project announcements by saying: > “Everything we share here tonight is in active development. This isn’t Blue Sky. We’re doing all of it.” I haven't found a singular, concise list of all the announcements in one place, so I'm trying to compile it all here. Please chime in if you see I missed anything, or if you're particularly hyped (or particularly *not* hyped) about any of these announcements! # **Parks** - ### Magic Kingdom - **Villians-themed land** to be added, adjacent to Frontierland. There's some [concept art](https://thewaltdisneycompany.com/app/uploads/2024/08/WDW_Villians_Land.jpg) and ["two new attractions planned as well as dining, shopping and more."](https://thewaltdisneycompany.com/disney-experiences-unprecedented-expansions-parks-resorts-d23/) - **Two *Cars* attractions** to be added in Frontierland. There's some [concept art](https://disneyparksblog.com/app/uploads/2024/08/WDW_Aerial_MK.jpg) for that as well. Not a mirror of the existing Cars Land or Radiator Springs Racers, but similar in concept to the latter. The concept art seems to indicate that this attraction will entirely replace the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island attractions. - **Disney Starlight**, a new night-time parade, premiers Summer of 2025. - ### Animal Kingdom - **Tropical Americas Land** to replace Dinoland USA ([concept art](https://thewaltdisneycompany.com/app/uploads/2024/08/WDW_Tropical-Americas_Aerial.jpg) here), set to open in 2027, with at least two new attractions planned: - **An Indiana Jones ride**, which will replace the Dinosaur ride. Seems to re-use the existing ride vehicles and looks similar to Indiana Jones Adventure, but "will be an all-new adventure, unlike any of the existing Indy attractions around the world." - **An Encanto dark-ride** that "takes place inside Casita on the day after young Antonio receives his gift of communicating with animals." - ### Hollywood Studios - **Monsters, Inc Land** to be added, which will feature "the first suspended coaster ever in a Disney Park." - Smuggler's Run to be updated, new mission featuring The Mandolorian and Grogu to be added in 2026. A very candid look at the development of the "BDX Droids" that were play-tested at Galaxy's Edge in Disneyland late last year. Thought it was really interesting and fun! This is Skippy. For those who never experienced it, he was part of the pre-show for The ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter at Disney World, an attraction which was responsible for many therapy and dry-cleaning bills. This particular Skippy was given to me by a dear friend who's sadly no longer with us and bought him at Disney World as a kid. One of the many shared experiences we bonded over was the trouser-filling fear we both went through on that ride. I kept him in a cupboard for a long time for fear of him being damaged but from now on he'll take pride of place in my living room. what are your thoughts on it? I only watched the first 4 episodes (up until the one with selena gomez) and i'm loving it so far, i still need to catch up though.
My wife and I are looking to become Annual Pass holders. Does anyone know if it is possible to get the photo pas later on for one pass if we buy the two together? Also, any tips from current passholders? We know they sometimes offer promotions for Disney resorts that we want to take advantage of but any other suggestions would be awesome.
It seemed like every time we visited WDW, there was some event or show taking place in front of Cinderella's Castle, and the interior was closed. When I visited as a kid, you'd walk through the castle and ooh and aah at the mosaic. I've wanted to see the mosaic again for years, and it was always closed. I finally got the chance again last time, and I took some pictures.

Where has this guy been? When my wife and I went to Disney World in 1996, we planned nothing in advance. We found ourselves waiting in massive lines for rides and spending hours waiting for tables in restaurants. We realized we screwed up and we had to do better. That was 27 years ago. Since then, we had kids and raised them to adulthood. Every trip after that we scheduled reservations in advance. Every morning we wake up, we know what park we are going to. We spend about 20 minutes every day we are there planning that day's activities, and we roll with whatever changes we encounter. I don't understand how having a plan in place in advance of your vacation somehow makes it more stressful. I've always thought it was easier to not have to wonder what we'll be doing and where we'll be going during our Disney trips. Are there really people who insist on just showing up with no plan and then blame Disney when they are stressed? Also, it seems like most of the Disney criticism I see is coming from Fox news in some form or another. Is that just my news feed, or is it an extension of the culture war that the right is trying to foment?
What's your favorite Disney World Restaurant, and what is it about that restaurant that makes it your favorite? Without any deep thought, the first one that popped into my mind was Narcoossee's. The food is amazing, and there's a great view of fireworks if you're there in the evening. When my wife and I went to WDW after she graduated from school (1996, I think?), we stayed on property at the Grand Floridian. It was my first time staying in a Disney resort. We arrived too early to check in, so we went to Narcoossee's for lunch. The last time we went to WDW (2021), we took our adult children with us, and had a wonderful dinner with everyone together at Narcoossee's.

now they're making a live action moana in 2025. it hasn't even been 10 years, disney is lowballing so hard with these lifeless remakes. hopefully ariel flops bad enough that they change their minds.
