I use timeshift(backup/restore utility) using BTRFS (file system type) and mounted subvolumes wrong and something else, when I tried to restored I borked my system.
As for the media server, some will suggest using no GUI or a very light desktop for convenience(XFCE maybe...). If you feel comfortable in the cli then its a no brainer, everything is faster. Oh and probably Debian for servers.

I would take a look at ways to backup your system and how to maintain it. Maybe self hosting something like Jellyfin, otherwise you could always some little fun customizing desktops and window managers.

It has always put our privacy at risk. Some people are fighting against it by not using big tech social media, using github alternatives and running AI locally. It's just that most people are unaware or do not care.

Ok, and what is you point? The app I use is under 10MB and the data under 1MB. I do not know how can a log of calls and contact list be over 500MB. Another app I tested 18MB and 200KB of data. So you either have a contact list over 100 000 contacts or google contacts is abnormally huge. In the end is still 5-10x the size of alternative contact/dialer apps.

Hey man, I did not mean to say that all 700MB were basically telemetry. I was only trying to say that the services purpose is data collection, implying that the app itself (GUI) and the integration of those services are responsible of the size of the app.

Its obviously not all just telemetry, it was an exageration, all they care about is your data and every feature they add is aligned for that goal whilst making the UI as "pretty" as possible. So I did not mention that because it felt unnecesary.

Its safe to delete my man, its just 700 of your nudes.
Jokes aside its just a phone app that integrates with google services which is convenient but you know.... using google is allowing google in your kitchen. So its basically "telemetry".
You can use whatever app you like, preferably FOSS is the last thing I mentioned is what you are concerned about.

True, suicide will inflict damage on your family but the part were they want help can only true for healthy families.
I asked my father for help multiple times, all he said was "why can't you be normal" and only talks to me when he wants money.
There is a video on youtube called somethikg like "My cluster B parent died and I did not care" that narrates his own real childhood story and how he ended up being a therapist after all. This video is helping me detach because at the moment his actions still affect me badly.
I think people should watch this video... And sorry for the dark note
Cheers

do gtk4 apps work nice? I've had to modify the gt4.css file.
Just found out about [Zen Browser](https://www.zen-browser.app/), has someone used it already? Its [Github repository](https://github.com/zen-browser/desktop) looks to be under very active development and growing fast in popularity. Zen Browser's website claims to have features that [Floorp](https://floorp.app/en) and [LibreWolf](https://librewolf.net/) do not. I'm not that tech savy so I would know how to evaluate the browser fairly, does anyone here knows something about it?
*I do not have and addiction problem, you have a problem with my addiction.*
Hi guys, Currently the cursor gets larger on gtk4 apps such as nautilus, celluloid and blanket on wayland compositors like Gnome, Plasma, Niri, Hyprland, Sway and River. The cursor behaves normally on any other window, even on gtk3 and gtk2. This only started to happen about two days ago after a system update (I assume). I used gradience(before any of the trouble started) to set gtk themes and it's optional dependency adw-gtk3 and it worked fine. Adw-gtk3 is now adw-gtk-theme which is weird since gradience is still asking for adw-gtk3 to set themes even though adw-gtk-themes & adw-gtk-theme-git are listed as optional dependencies now. I have searched many forums and this is the only thing I could come up with that may have been the cause(on my end), I can't wrap my head around it really, tried several thing but with no luck... Anyway, would appreciate any help and if you are experiencing the same feel free to comment. Hi guys! Would appreciate comments and recommendations on remote desktop apps. Currently I have looked at wikis and articles but none give me their opinion. Need it to help my parents and grandparents because we all know that guiding them through the phone is torture. Rustdesk works fine on Arch but unfortunately the client on Mac OS has been buggy. Would prefer FOSS over Anydesk and Teamviewer. Thank you in advance!

Just curious on how people here organize their files and if you use something like Stow to manage a messy home directory.
